LSE: Women in the workplace workshops/networking...as a male?
Hey Everyone,
Long story short, I got into LSE's AIC in the new year (link below) and it seems to have an unreal line up (check it out!).
By the time I registered, I noticed an unconventional option for a particular workshop: I had a choice between a corporate law and a women in hedge funds one. I saw 0 value in the law one (just from a personal preference/career goals viewpoint) and thought, hell, HFs AND women? What could go wrong?
Well, it wasn't till now that I remembered that these (women in the workplace) events were strictly exclusive where I'm from (Toronto) and realized that it might be weird as fuck seeing a guy roaming around what is (at least where I'm from) a "women only" thing.
Look, I have very little objection mingling/getting to know people, especially women in finance, and personally would give zero fucks if wasn't a corporate event. And I would love to learn more about HFs/the industry as a whole. But is this generally frowned upon within corporate circles? (I've overheard female recruiters bashing guys for being in one before).
Or just fuck it, go have fun, learn and meet new people. Looking forward to your thoughts!

Being from LSE myself, I often joked with my mates about going into Women or LGBT events just for giggles. None of us did it though. I'd say definitely go and if you get asked what the hell you are doing there just say that you self-identify as polyamorous non-binary genderqueer. Problem solved.
.
Gender "equality' is a massive hot topic at the LSE, and I cannot imagine that they will let males attend women's only stuff. You might be able to BS your way into one of the LGBT events if you insist, but trying to attend women's only events will likely not get a positive response.
