the_red_baronThis is probably a stupid question, but I have 0 experience with this. What is unreal P&L vs real P&L? What do they mean? How is each computed?

If you buy 1 share of a stock at 100, and the stock goes up to $110, you have a P&L of $10, but if you dont sell this stock at 110, then that P&L is called unrealized because you only have it in a mark to market sense. If you sell the stock at 110, you have $10 of realized P&L.

The simulation can be fun for some time if you fail to notice that the curve goes exactly the same :) An international trading competition called Traders Trophy uses this platform and they recently had the finals here at stock exchange in Amsterdam. I've participated in it, but didn't get further than 3rd place in the semis because the game was seriously flawed...

how do you achieve a net position of zero? does this imply having a 10000 position when the market is moving up, a -10000 position when market is moving down and a position of 0 when market is not moving???

Hey guys, I don't get this. When a bank calls you with a quote, how are you supposed to know if you are buying or selling that stock?
