McKinsey Networking Help

Hi All,

I cold reached out to a Senior Partner at McKinsey and actually got a response for meeting! They weren't available to meet when I was in their region during that week, however they referred me to the recruiting manager for their Implementation division (which is what the Senior Partner is in).

That manager asked if there was a particular role I'd be interested in learning about at McKinsey and said most implementation consultants have at least 3 years post undergrad (I'm assuming this was her saying I don't have the experience for their division as I'm a first year in IB?). I would really like to work in high-tech consulting down the line but have little to no experience in it (MO Data job(s) for 2 years after school and am currently in Public Finance).

Since I already have this connection, would it be better to speak on the implementation program? Or should I directly say I want to be connected to High-Tech and risk not getting any response going forward if those partners wouldn't speak with me?

Thanks for any and all advice!
