She then discovered a reactionary, proudly unmoderated official Facebook group of American Mensans called Firehouse, in which, according to its description, subjects range from “Fluffy Kittens to items that will make you wish you could bleach your brain.” Typical content includes crude memes mocking Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, bad-faith anti-trans bathroom opinions, and support for building a border wall. One post argues that black people have benefitted from slavery and women from human trafficking because “their children enjoy a better life than in ‘shitholes.’ ”

:

In 2015, a Firehouse member posted, “I want to see some boobs! Help me out ladies! #boobthread,” and the women of Mensa flooded the comments section with twelve hundred photos of their breasts. The overwhelming supply spawned a secondary boob thread, which garnered more than five hundred more.

Sounds based, go for it.

That's fake as shit, one thousand and seven hundred women all posted nudes because a guy said "I want to see boobs!".  Yeah, it's more likely to see the sun rise in the fucking West

I scored over 150 on an official IQ test, but decided not to join. There is a strong social stigma against MENSA, and for good reason; the majority of its members have no purpose in joining besides jerking each other off on a (mostly) irrelevant number so as to mask the fact that they have nothing else in their lives - college, prestige, net worth - to show for

“The highest reported standard score for most IQ tests is IQ 160, approximately the 99.997th percentile ”

If you really do have such a high IQ - you should join one of these:

I'm mensa eligible, I thought about joining to have conversations with other people and try to exercise my mind

here's why I've decided not to join

1. IQ tests are poor measures for intelligence, so you're going to be joining a group with other good test takers rather than people who will challenge you

2. many mensans are socially inept. arrogance, hubris, narcissism, you name it, it's there

3. there are plenty of other ways to exercise your mind. have you ever tried to explain a complex concept to someone outside of the industry? I believe teaching something complex in simple terms is the best mark of intelligence. have you tried learning a foreign language, a musical instrument, or tried starting a business? all are great ways to work your mind that don't involve getting dinner with a bunch of vitamin D deficient pricks

your mileage may vary, but I see very little upside, so that's not a favorable trade imo

I look at how achieving a college degree inflates the ego of many, who then see themselves as better than those who don't have one. A certification that turns prejudices into adamant beliefs, no matter what counter evidence you can present.

At least you can say that a degree brings some benefits, notably because some employers require it. A mensa membership is pretty much an equivalent, without the benefits.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

Another poster was claiming thousands of MENSA women were showing off their breasts cause someone asked for boobs on the Facebook page

Why is no one asking the real question here? Hardly anyone who posts on the Off Topic forum would be a member of MENSA. All due respect to those of you who don't post rubbish, which I know is a good chunk of the monkey population on WSO, but let's not kid ourselves.

By the way, I know I'm gonna get MS for this. I put the disclaimer on there for a reason.

Idk man. Generally people in MENSA and people who post in off topic are socially retarded .. so could be some overlap

But could they be a member of Mensa? I could - but don’t see the point. I bet many on here Could qualify.
