Merrill Lynch - Found many VPs at ML
I have been going through alumni of my school via LinkedIn. I have found many "Vice President-Investments at Merrill Lynch" and "Sr. Vice President"s that work for Merrill Lynch.
But, to my understanding, it's actually considered BAML, correct? So, how do I know if these guys are part of IB, and not advisors?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just thought ML no longer have a pure IB division?
Just curious b/c I am not interested in PWM or advising and don't want to waste these people's time but trying to reach out to them only to find that they work in a different division.
Most people who still use the Merrill name are in Wealth Management. ML's IBD was pretty much absorbed into BAML's, but the Wealth Management section is still called Merrill Lynch. Its actually kind of like a subsidiary of BAML, like US Trust.
That makes perfect sense, thank you very much!
A lot of senior people on LinkedIn also don't really give a shit, or don't like saying they work for BAML when they spent 20 years at Merrill.
I did PWM internship at ML last summer. On my resume, should I change "Bank of America Merrill Lynch" to "Merrill Lynch"?
Merrill Lynch PWM interns are predominately the sons and daughters of wealthy clients. They spend more time eating and drinking than actually sitting in front of a desk doing work.
Apparently it is still ML in Japan. http://www.japan.ml.com/main.asp
I emailed yesterday to one of the FA that I worked for and was told to keep Bank of America part in front of ML. (fyi)
It's your resume not his. It's not dishonest to put either ML or BAML - wherever you're applying will know what firm it is
Hmmm... after cruising around LinkedIn, I found quite a few "Vice President-Investments at Merrill Lynch" as well as the OP, but, how would you cold email these guys? I mean, if you're not even sure where they work, it seems like this could get awkward?
Any input would be great. I'd love to be able to try to network with them, but I don't know how to go about it.
For future reference - 99% of the time anyone that works for a bank, firm, financial institution, etc that has the title of "Vice President/Director/Managing DIrector" followed by "Investments" means that they work on the wealth management side.
Yep. If it's investments it is not IB Advisory.
