J. P. Morgan Video Interview Overview

I was answering a question, and not realizing that I had no re-do's left, ended the response slightly early. I got my main point across but I essentially stopped mid sentence and didn't close at all. Do you guys think a semi-minor screw up like this will affect me negatively?

JP Morgan Video Interview

JP Morgan uses HireVue for video recruiting. It is part of the initial screening. It is important to recognize that the purpose of this process is to weed unfit candidates out. The types of questions that are asked are fit related. Which means you should have answers prepared for these types of questions in advance. However, you should be prepared to adjust your answers slightly to fit the question. Here are some examples of the type of questions that you will see.

JP Morgan Chase HireVue Questions

Please note that this list is not all inclusive.

  • Why J.P. Morgan?
  • Which skills did you gain during your internship that will make you a good fit for this role?
  • Can you tell us about a time you've acted as a leader?
  • Why do you think you will succeed in this role? What makes you a good fit?
  • What has been your greatest challenge? How did you overcome it?
  • What are your best qualities?
  • Can you tell us about a time you worked in a team to solve a problem?
  • Can you tell us about a time you had to resolve a conflict at work? How did you achieve that? What happened?
  • What interests you about current affairs now? Why?

You will have 60 seconds to prepare a response and between 60 and 90 seconds to deliver that response. Use the first 60 seconds to modify your delivery. Be mindful of the timer when delivering your answer. Do not get lost on unrelated tangents. Deliver your thoughts in a clear and declarative manner.

I wouldn't say totally screwed, there are so many things that go into it so It could end up being something else that gets the ding, but in a very competitive landscape where kids are nailing these pretty basic fit/behavioral questions its definitely going to hurt a little. But still I have no idea the question or what you said so you could just be overthinking things which i'm assuming is the case since you felt the need to post here. If you check all the other boxes shouldn't be too bad, but still can be something against you if you actually did screw it up noticeably.

definitely agree with this, I got my a$$ dinged by GS last year because I made a similar mistake on the hirevue (cutting off my answer short because I blanked out for a second) and was just not very succinct in my answers. It is difficult to make a good impression and since the video is the main aspect they are looking at, it is hard to recover.

Don't fret over small details like this. Most likely not that big a deal.

I'm also meant to be taking this. Would you mind letting me know if you can stop recording if you finish early or does it always run for 90 seconds?
