Moving to New York to find prop trading gig!

I want to find a prop trading firm that will hire a non college grad that is willing to make the required capital contribution (10-30k). Where is the best place to find such a list. Can anyone recommend prop firms with good reputations? Whats life like as a prop trader in the city? If I were to make a 10k capital contribution, how much leverage will I receive on it?

Well I just had an interview with one - T3 Trading down by battery park. 5k capital contribution plus a $2500 training program will allow you to trade with 100k of the firm's money. You need to be 21 and have a series 56 and 24 license though, but they will sponsor you for it if you decide to go that route. Culture was a very relaxed, fratty atmosphere. Not sure if they take non-college hires though, but its worth checking them out as this is the exact type of firm it looks like you're after. Good luck

I wouldn't pay for training. It's not going to be high quality. Prop firms offer a great opportunity to learn about day trading without the $25k capital contribution. Fees are also a lot lower than they would be through a personal account on TradeStation or something like that. I think WTS is good. Paper trade before you trade live though.

WallStreetOasis.comThere is a Prop Shop Group on here that you can join. I thinks they have an extensive list of prop shops in their group forum.

good luck.

Yea it's a pretty solid list, but most of the firms are in Chicago some are just links to trading software. Wouldn't be a bad idea for the prop trading group to develop it's own list (I think the one on there is an external link), I know I'd be more than willing to pitch in.

There's still some New York ones on there though so it's definitely worth looking at.

I've switched my desire to work in NYC to wanting to work in Chicago over the last 6-8 months anyways. My kind of town, Chicago is.
