MS MD Arrested and Charged with Stabbing + Hate Crime

http://www.businessinsider.com/morgan-stanley-md-…

I dont know about you guys, but the MD's story seems a lot more plausible.

A Morgan Stanley managing director was arrested and charged with a hate crime for allegedly threatening and stabbing a taxi driver of Middle Eastern descent back in December over a cab fare dispute from the city to his multi-million dollar Connecticut home, the Connecticut Post reports.
From the CTPost:
Darien police charged William Bryan Jennings, 47, of Knollwood Lane, with second-degree assault, theft of services and second-degree intimidation based on race or bigotry. He was released after posting $9,500 bond and was to appear at court March 7. Jennings denied the allegations and through his attorney, Eugene Riccio, said he is the victim in the case.
Police say Jennings, who is currently the co-head of fixed income capital markets at Morgan Stanley, refused to pay a $200 cab fair and then threatened the driver and used racial slurs, according to the CTPost.
The police also say that the cab driver then drove off with Jennings still in the backseat to find a cop to settle the dispute, but when the taxi driver stuck his hand into the backseat window he was stabbed by Jennings with a penknife, the report said.
An attorney for Jennings denied the allegations saying that after disputing the fare, which he says was actually $300, Jennings was abducted by the driver who was speeding, running stop signs and red lights in an attempt to drop him off back in the city, the report said. The attorney also said Jennings got out his penknife and demanded to be set free because he was afraid, but the driver tried to take the knife and was accidentally cut while putting his hand through the window.
We called Jennings' desk at Morgan Stanley for comment and we were told he was not there. A spokesperson for Morgan Stanley said he has been placed on leave.

I knew the name sounded familiar

And yeah, his story sounds more plausible than the cab driver's IMO. I can't imagine a guy that managed to become the co-head of fixed income at a BB would throw his entire career away over a cab fare dispute

Looked up your wiki link. Gotta say, the story sounds a lot more interesting, given the fact that he's been dead for 86 years.

Calling Ron Paul an isolationist is like calling your neighbor a hermit because he doesn't come over to your property and break your windows.

a few questions: 1) whats a penknife? 2) what kind of parents named him that? 3) co head of FI doesn't have a car service? 4) what slurs are we talkin about here? 5) who taught this taxi driver how to solve problems?

So this MD was charged with a thought crime? I guess when you are angry you should watch what you say because if anyone is offended your possible punishment will double or triple because it was motivated by "hate".

As if a "normal" murder is motivated by gum drops and my little pony.

Wasn't a thought crime at all, he actually stabbed the guy.

Do you actually think the MD wouldn't pay his $200 taxi fair to his house? Come on...

I think the Taxi driver picked this guy up, realized where he wanted to go and how far it was and was like "fuckkk", got to the guys home and realized he was some baller with cash, tacked an extra hundo on there and the MD was like 'fuck that I aint paying" and shit started from there.

guy doesnt have an extra hundo? who the f cares if this cabbie upped the fare on you. you think he realized that he paid more for his tie than his ride home?

Never in my life have I been in a cab with locked doors. You open the door give him the cash and leave. It happens quick enough that he doesn't have the chance to lock them. If by some odd reason this doesn't work, and it will 99% of the time, you just call the cops.

This is only news because the guy is a banker- it is too tempting for the media to imply that a managing director is racist and/or violent.

I really don't think this guy would choose to rip off a cab driver, and certainly not stab him on the basis of race. The bigotry allegation would have more credence if something like 80% of cab drivers seem to be of middle eastern descent.
