Name dropped a fake name during an interview
While I was interviewing for MBB, for some reason, my brain told me to tell the interviewer that my uncle was high up at the bank. So I quickly said unintelligible and hard to pronounce name (something I made up on the spot like Jarisha Kitchonara) and said he was my uncle who was a principal in the Latin America region. I thought I could scare him by pretending to have someone on the inside pulling some strings, but I just recieved an email asking to confirm the name I provided, as they could not find a "Jarisha Kitchonara".
What the fuck do I do?
😂
Lmfao
Don't respond
i forgot my uncles name but i wont forget to make the presentations, pinky promise
Just say he is trans and goes under a different name and you don't want to expose him
the fact this would probably work
Insert: oh-no meme song lol
this is much more apt:
F
Honest response: probably don't respond and you have to let it die. Accept you messed up and will never work there but never admit it.
During applications you are usually asked if you have any family in the firm. So either way you’re kind of screwed. Just “loose” the email and deny deny deny any recollection of mentioning someone.
reply that you were mistaken, your uncle works at a different firm, and apologize for your mistake.
"i must apologize, my uncle works for a different firm and my brain wires must have gotten crossed in the heat of the moment."
Before you respond, go on social media and find someone named Jarisha Kitchonara and encourage them to apply for the Lat. Am. division.
HAHAHHAHA
Don't know if this is a troll post but MBB are not banks.
I was referring to Moelis, Barclays and BNP Paribas (MBB).
del
Man this could be straight out of a George Costanza story arc if you name dropped Art Vandelay
Wow! Exceptionally poor decision but I'm guessing you've learned your lesson now. Don't reply honestly. You've dug yourself into quite the hole and saying anything else will be damaging to the extent you lie more or you come clean and expose yourself as a liar. None of these are ideal so consider this a closed door and sail for clearer waters. Don't ever do something like this again.
Amazing thread. Thanks OP
I was expecting a great story at the end
Yeah Mckinsey, thank you for interviewing me. I'm Chad, and my Indian uncle Jarisha Kitchnora is head of Latin America, at this bank, Mckinsey.
My god I'm in tears
Dude I am absolutely dying
Lol
Hahaha saw this on /biz/, this is pure gold

This is almost as funny as the arbys boys situation
Just create a linkedin account w that name and put him as employee at another bank and latm and say u were mistaken
This is where creating fake linkedin profiles really comes in handy... good time to start
Deny everything, admit nothing. Act stupid. And just move on to another bank, say you’ve decided to move forward with another bank, make up whatever but deflect and just move on. This is a horrible situation. Idk why you would ever do this lol especially somebody so high up, at least say he’s mid level? Not the fuckin head of Latin America division lmao whattt. You’ve got some serious balls
Honestly I’d probably just deflect and say you were mistaken, he’s a distant uncle removed that’s at a different bank. Then follow up with a specific question to switch the conversation over to something else. Probably your best bet.
Do you have an uncle? If so, say your uncle is a joker and he fooled you.
You have to make a fake LinkedIn page of this person ASAP. Start adding other real people at the institution. Give the interviewer your cell phone number but tell him it’s really your uncles number. He will call you looking for a recommendation. Make sure to really sell the Latin America angle too.
Let someone who's not a goofball moron get the job instead
Oh my goodness I can't believe this is real
Tell em the correct name was not Kichonara but Sayonara.
