NEED ADVICE: Following Up With an MD

Hello Fellow Monkeys,

When is the best time of day to reach out to a managing director? I had one give me his number and told me to reach out 'anytime' this week, but didn't give a specific time that would work. When I asked for a time I didn't get a response, so I am not going to beat a dead horse. Granted, I KNOW there is no one time that works for everyone, but any educated guesses or generally good times would be helpful.

Note: I am asking because when I called twice, I got his secretary. So I don't want to be incessantly calling at a time when MDs are generally unavailable and come off as an annoying student.

Thanks ahead of time for the help.

P.S The MD is at a Mezz fund, if that helps.

Best Response

Did he give you a number for his direct line? Have you asked his secretary as HandleBars said above? My general timeline for getting responses is ~3 days. If you call on Monday morning and get no response, call again on Thursday afternoon. Always leave a voicemail. Don't pester with more than 1 follow up e-mail. They will get back to you if they gave you their info.
