Need to stock up on dress shirts - brand?

Hey WSO-

I'm looking to refresh my wardrobe with the basics. Ideally I'm looking for maybe a dozen new dress shirts. Nothing too flashy, just classic blue or white shirts. Anyone have suggestions of the best value/quality here? For reference, I've typically been a j crew slim fit guy, just looking for something marginally nicer that might last a bit longer.

Thanks

Third for Charles Tyrwhitt. They've changed their sizing in the past couple years, which is annoying, but they're still solid and attractive shirts.

Brooks Brothers are also go-to's if you're lucky enough to find the few with attractive collars and no pockets. Superior quality, inferior selection to CT.

Charles Tyrwhitt as several others have mentioned is a favorite among folks. It's very good quality and doesn't have the boxy silhouette prevalent in many of the department store brands. Within the department store brands you really can't go wrong with half a dozen calvin klein slim fit white dress shirts when they're on sale (generally around the holidays and summer). I tend to hoard dress shirts at this time ;P

If you are a fan of made to measure, Oliver Wicks has always been a favorite of mine. I've had two suits and a few shirts made by them and the quality was surprisingly very good for an online MTM retailer.

There's a closer meaning to my user name. Try reading it quickly. Perhaps you will then understand ;P

Has anyone tried mTailor? I've been wanting to test them out... there is an app, you just take pics and they send you the stuff in the mail -

The key starting point is building a list of brands that fit your body, which is much less likely with brands like Banana Republic or J. Crew that go with S/M/L sizing that simplifies their inventory management, but compromises fit for most guys.

Apparel retail has become incredibly promotional, so there's something on sale at all times if you know where to look. If you're interested in a simple way to find brands that fit your body and your budget, send me a direct message.

You're not an entrepreneur, you're a high school student. Wear Brooks Brothers/Tyrwhitt/Boss in any case.

Is Club Monaco good? I have a few dress shirts from them and they seem like good quality.

as a warning they are VERY traditionally dressed (to the point of calling brooks brothers too trendy) but they are a great intro to clothing.

a couple of pointers 1. higher price does not mean higher quality 2. how well a shirt fits is the most important aspect. after that think about style, quality, color, cloth, etc. brands are a good proxy for style (e.g. brooks brothers and thomas pink are different in style) or quality but not perfect, so look around. dont limit yourself to certain brands

EDIT:I can't believe I just gave advice to a troll
