Oliver Wyman 1st Round Interview

Hey everybody!

I'm a longtime lurker, first time poster. I have a first round interview coming up with Oliver Wyman GMC for an entry-level consultant position. It's a 30 minute, over-the-phone case interview. (FYI, I have also applied to OW FS, but that app hasn't been responded to yet.)

What can I expect? This will be my first real case interview, aside from some mock interviews.

I am reading through Case in Point, and am going through the case materials from Wharton and Kellogg. If anyone has any pointers to give me or any other helpful advice specific to the OW process, that'd be awesome!

On another, slightly different note, wtf is up with the quantitative test they give? That was ridiculous!!

hey, if any posters are still reading this, i've got a case interview over the phone with GMC coming up in 3 days. would really appreciate any insight u could provide. how were the cases? any mindfuck questions?i read somewhere that they give some hard math stuff, but seeing as this is an over the phone interview, i doubt that, but if anyone can clarify, please do.

runthetownjust out of curiosity, after you applied online, how did until you heard for the online test?

hmm...so after i submitted apps online, i got email from them after about 3 weeks inviting me to do the online test...1 week after the test i got another email inviting me to do the phone interview...

any idea on what i can do to get back the interview opportunity? ( i heard from them last thursday and it's only been like 4 business days....)

Crunchy:

I have just gone through the process and here are my thoughts:

1) Based on my observation, I agree that they post time slots for the next day. 2) Another explanation for why the option to book an interview time has disappeared is that the open slots for the next day have been filled up. Can you confirm that the option has been gone for four days in a row?

hey brianksc, thanks for the comments. yea...it's a bit weird practice to me actually, guess I am used to those style they post everything up and I choose what works for me. Anyways, now I can be relieved as I will still be interviewed (i think...?). Since you just went through the process, would you mind share a bit insights?how long it will be and what about the case? i assume it will be a fairly concrete business related case instead of simply asking you to guesstimate how many cell phones in US rite?

(to answer your question..i've been freshing the page constantly on my phone and the option was just gone from like 6pm ystday - 8am this morning..) What you addressed in 2) perfectly makes sense to me now. Thanks a lot!
