Parking for sleeping near Wall St?

Hello Y'all

I am preparing for my SA position in the summer (if it is not virtual) and I am wondering if there are any spots nearby to park my car so that I can get a good nights rest for the duration of the summer. I read online that it is legal to sleep in your car in NYC, just not sure where the good parking locations are. I have been practicing sleeping in my car on a few road trips to get used to it and figure out how to make the best of it to save as much money as I can. I would prefer not to be sleeping on the streets, but rather in my vehicle so hopefully there are some nearby spots to park. Any help is appreciated !

I think it's going to be very hard to find a consistent street parking spot in Fidi (or really any part of nyc). There are garages/lots where you can park, but you'll have to find one that's non-valet, and the parking cost will probably run you $500-1000 a month.

Would recommend just finding a cheap apt near work for roughly 1200-1500 a month. That being said, if you're a really smooth operator you could shack your way through the summer.

For your personal safety id push for a cheap living location with a door and room to sleep in. Doing what is being suggested otherwise will be potentially harmful to you. I had dealt with cases where things got ugly for people sleeping in their vehicles. Don’t be that cheap where you don’t want to live in a room.

bro just get a cheap apartment in Brownsville, right on the M-line

I think parking costs will be similar to that of renting an apartment in Manhattan.. If you're looking to save money, this is a stupid idea because you might not save any money at all, and if you do the savings will be marginal. I've seen parking cost around $600 a month, and you can get your own room for the same price.. Aren't you aware of what COVID has done to the apartment rental market? If you're unable to find a good deal in this environment in NYC, you'll probably have a tough time in IB

If you manage to stay clean and don't obviously look like a bum, it is surprisingly easy to drift around some pretty nice places and have no one bother you. You could sleep in hotel lobbies, shower at the gym, eat out at restaurants every day. Pretty sure there a movie about a guy doing this exact thing at a hotel and everyone just assumed he was a regular guest.

I hope this is a shitpost. But if not, then don’t do this. You will be getting paid enough for the few weeks you’re interning to get a room. It’s silly to go through the hassle of parking, moving the car for street cleaning, and potentially getting stabbed just to save like $4k for the summer. If you’re doing an unpaid internship in Yosemite, then alright. But not a well paid banking internship in fucking Manhattan.

I found a room on Craigslist or Facebook near work for $1500 a month. There’s a bunch of scams you have to watch for but it ended up being a great set up for the 10 weeks.

Agree with the above about it not being a good look in the group. You will be known as the intern that sleeps in their car and I know for sure my group head and the rest of the MDs would be like wtf is wrong with this kid.

Finally - get some solid sleep during your summer just so you can perform. No need to get suboptimal sleep. I get there are tricked out set ups for sleeping damn comfortable in cars but my guess is you’re not paying for that if you wrote this post.

Ok.  Assuming you are NOT being a dick with this comment.

If you want/need to live on the island or Queens or BK, then just pay the damn rent (the rent is too damn high!) in the safest neighborhood you can tolerate.

If you are working downtown, Jersey is an option, and you can get cheaper rent.

You can also do what i did for 10 months and live in an rv and park for much lower than rent.  Liberty Harbor RV park is very nice. 15 minutes from downtown.  Ferry is right there.  Bar/restaurant in site.  Open all year., etc.  You CAN live out of your car / tent there as well.

I did this in Indy and saved 700 per month easy...and yes, i know the difference in locations.

If you are a shitpost, then go away...

a much better option is to make dating app profiles on Tinder, Bumble, CoffeeMeetsBagel, Hinge, OKCupid, JDate, and any others you can think of...then setup 1st date drinks with 3 girls a night, every night, at 1 hour increments (7pm, 8pm, 9pm), all at bars on the same block...and then go on 45-60min 1st dates until you meet a "perfect match" with insane chemistry...then go home with that girl and sleep at her place...repeat every night until you have 7 girls that you are "dating" and then just rotate sleeping at different girls apartment every night...you should be able to continue this thru the summer...and by the end of the summer, you also have plenty of places to sleep for free forever...

with this method, within 2 weeks you will have a fun place to sleep every night

While you are doing this, get a super cheap shared room in an apartment in an outer borough (just in case you strike out one night).

You can find a room in a shared apartment for under $500/month (and you'll probably only need this for 1 month or less, since you'll be sleeping at your various girlfriends apartments within a few weeks).

I did this myself a few years ago...it was a blast (major confidence booster to sleep with a different girl every night, always at their apartment).  At first it feels like a lot of effort, but once you get into the routine, you get really good at flirting...and pretty soon you have a ton of girls texting you all the time, and it feels like you are swimming in a pool of hedonistic sin...this is the best way to live...the energy of a new partner is the best energy.

just google it...you're welcome

LOL This story is so implausible and makes no sense. Anybody that good looking/shrewd as a scam artist to girls is basically Leo in Catch Me If You Can. Any normal person with this skills has a job to pay for an apartment. Maybe you have rape/child porn allegations? Why else would someone live that way?

not implausible at all...dating in NYC is a full contact sport...its just like the bachelor, but with normal people (which girls love to watch btw)...and you don't need to be "super good looking" you just need to be "above average" (which most people are...i think i'm average) and maximize what you've got, but more important is being a confident fun flirty personality (and learn how to give good orgasms)...and "act as if" (don't over compensate here...which is a fine line...but experience will be your guide).

i took hundreds of pictures (with a tripod and remote camera clicker) in different outfits, different locations, different facial expressions (pride is a good facial expression) to make good dating profile pics...it took some effort...but the result was worth it...plenty of matches...and plenty of dates

if you still don't match with the girls that you are attracted to, then lower your standards and go for the 5-7s instead of the 8-10s...if you just need a place to stay for the summer..then what's the harm?  maybe you'll change your mind and like the girls that you initially were not attracted to...maybe not...but its still a free place to sleep. while you find out.

just google it...you're welcome
