PNC Real Estate Banking internship
Anyone have any info on this? Is this a good way to start if I want to get onto the principal side eventually? Any info on pay?

Cant comment on pay but excellent place to start. Will give you lots of good training and exposure to many types of executions (BS, bridge, Agency, Syndications, REIT deals, etc.)
No info on pay but it's a fine place to start. You will learn plenty and absolutely be able to move to the principal side.
It pays $22 an hour. Definitely a great place to start and learn about the industry.
I interned there years ago. It was a good experience. I'm still on the lending side but the switch to principal side is doable - several of my former peers (bank lending) moved to development. Easier to do when you're at the analyst/associate level, but not impossible beyond that. The above comment on pay is accurate based on my experience.
If your ultimate goal is to be in development or PE, then a bank lending gig isn't the "best" starting point per se, but IMO is better than appraisal, consulting, and possibly brokerage (depends leasing vs. investment sales). You'll be working on deals directly (vs. being a 3rd party) and get broad exposure to different property classes.
I’m a senior underwriter at a bank lender. Struggling to get to the buy side. I have friends that did the PNC RE program and are now all lenders. Would you say a move to IS at CBRE would be a good step to get to buy side?

when was the superday?
If you're trying to go to the principal side, don't go to a commercial bank. Just wait until you find an acquisitions or asset management role. Or work in brokerage as an analyst program at a large CBRE/JLL/NKF/Eastdil type shop, or actually prospecting for private client listings at a M&M type shop. That way, you see the transaction process and can transition to a client
or a debt fund that does really complex big deals that views from an equity standpoint?
