What is wrong with these SJW people in Portland?

They made some normal people close down their Burrito shop because they were white...?

Some articles highlighting their obvious human rights violations!

Ethnic foods are part of the American taste buds. The thing is if someone of color comes to the U. S. and goes back to their home country and exploits American Cuisine, would anybody care?
In Latin America people usually make their own tortillas, it's part of the culture. Sometimes, you can even buy the tortillas from your neighbor. To go to that extreme of getting a tortilla recipe says alot of these business owners.

It is much worse than that... They are making a list of all white owned "appropriative" restaurants in Portland.

EDIT: Apparently this is a list of alternatives to white owned businesses...

One of the dumbest things I've heard in a while. Actually sounds like make believe. Remind me to never go to Portland.

Also, haven't those young ladies heard of Google before? Tons of different recipes there.....and less SJW backlash.

Were you at a Hooters?

Ehh, I know of restaurants in Cali where the entire wait staff is hot chicks. And it's not Hooters and the guy who runs it doesn't give a fuck about liberal politics.

It's hard for me to feel any sympathy for these two "young ladies". While they probably didn't do anything legally wrong, it's clear to me their actions and words showed cultural disrespect and general lack of decency. While I don't necessarily support whining locals shutting down their cart for political reasons (in a free market if they offered a shoddy product then their cart would naturally get less business over time), I also feel no sympathy for their situation given their intentions.

Was this satire? I really can't tell, not trying to be rude...

Why aren't they upset about Marcus Samuelson cooking Norweigen food(Aquavit), or southern food(Red Rooster & Yardbird). Why aren't they upset at Rick Bayless cooking Mexican food(Frontera)*a James Beard Award winner.

This girl I know who is from Portland says Portlandia is annoying because it's too close to the reality there.

May 25, 2017

Don't they know that all of their breweries took their beer recipes from Germans?

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the Pakistani restaurant.

The sad part I bet the "abuelitas" from Mexico could care less two white girls are making their tortillas in Portland. Not like I would care if someone in Mexico is making Cheesesteaks. Everyone deserves a good cheeseteak, just like everyone deserves a good tortilla.

let's be real you can't get a GOOD cheesesteak out of Philly.

May 25, 2017

I have had a couple. Never have had a buffalo chicken cheese steak outside of Philly though. To me that is the true Philly sandwich because you can only get in Philly.

May 25, 2017

I get offended when my cheesesteaks are appropriated but just because most completely bastardize it.

May 25, 2017

You do realize that reality is the inspiration for the show Portlandia right? The people there have always been fucking insane.

10 years ago: "These two chefs made sure their recipes were authentic, going as far as to travel to Mexico to learn the tortilla ingredients from the local people, and faithfully recreating the authentic taste of Mexico right here in Portland."

Today: "CULTURAL APPROPRIATION"

I read this article the other day and I thought it was funny that there's an actual fascist President but the far left is devoting energy to issues like this. Plus having been in Mexico for 8 months now because of work I can tell you this is a terrible idealization of Mexicans. Tacos are street food for the most part. People selling tacos are the equivalent of hot dog stands in the US.

I can't believe this wasn't an article from the Onion.

I lived in Mexico for a couple of years and let me tell you - tortillas are NOT some kind of secret recipe. The rationale behind a negative reaction to their "stealing" a recipe is understandable, but that's not what they did. EVERYONE in Mexico eats tortillas every day, and they don't hide the recipe. This is genuinely the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. It's like a Mexican "stealing" the recipe for a grilled cheese sandwich and culturally appropriating it to make money. Words cannot possibly express the amount of anguished eye-roll that I am experiencing right now.

These professional guilt police need to get freaking life and do something to help someone who is actually being oppressed or mistreated. It's amazing to think that anyone with a lack of common sense this severe can even function on their own in our society.
