Private Equity Internship Interview

I have an interview for an internship at small private equity firm next week. I wanted to know what I will be expected to know and how I should prepare for the interview. Also what do undergrads typically do during a private equity internship.

So I've been able to find some companies worth checking out based on the company's investment criteria, but for these private companies is there a way to get their financial reports? I kept finding this side called PrivCo that has the reports, but it costs around $100. Also, Hoover's does not have the information for some of the companies I found. Any suggestions or advice in general would be appreciated.

I worked on something similar to this a couple of weeks back, same for a 2nd round of a PE internship as well. Jec helped a lot with that (thanks Jec!)

Use comps to assist you in obtaining the financials you need and also as Jec suggests, you could perform your analysis on a small to mid-cap company.

You can't go wrong with possibly over dressing and wearing a tie, but since it is so early I think a suit without the tie would be appropriate too

Be prepared to discuss how you'd choose companies to invest in, what you'd look for, what industries are attractive right now, why you like public/private companies, etc. They may give you informal cases and ask about what you think about a certain company based on what they tell you. Make sure you read up on the fund and what their focus and investment strategy is.
