Private equity portfolio operations

Hello all,

Had a general question for folks on this forum. I've been in consulting for a while now (T2 firm) and am highly interested in private equity portfolio operations based on my experience with dd's and portfolio company strategy projects. I know for traditional PE deal-team roles the recruiting is done through headhunters. How does one go about finding opportunities on the portfolio operations side?
