Recruiter Ignoring Me

A recruiter dangled some sexy roles in front of me, one of which required an essay. I wrote the essay, and while turning it in early last week said "this would be my top choice but I started an interview process with a similar firm so I need to know about process timing." I followed up a few days later (late last week) and still nothing back.

What do I do now? "Hey, third time, please tell me anything, very rude to ghost after such professional / polite rapport (my small talk game is off the charts)" or just pick up the phone and call and say what gives?
