Road to a Hedge Fund
Hey guys, I've read up on how some ppl make it to Hedge Funds from S&T but it doesn't look like there's a direct process similar to IB --> PE. I have a couple of questions and I would appreciate it if anyone could give some insight. Thanks.

Do you have to come from a Rates/FX background to make it to a Global Macro Hedge Fund? Context: I'll be on an Equity Derivatives Sales desk when I start FT.

How much does Bank "prestige" matter when networking your way to a Hedge Fund? If you're a beast at a strong MM, are you still neglected compared to those who started at a BB?
-
If your desk directly works with Hedge Funds as clients, how much of an upper hand does that give you compared to working with Pensions/AM/Insurance firms?

How often do Salespeople make it to Hedge Funds compared to Traders? I assume they'll be in more of a fundamental analyst/research role, but are you at a disadvantage when it comes to the PM route?
