Have a bunch of friends who went through it. Looks good on resume and is helpful for learning modeling, but imo it’s an absolute scam. Haven’t noticed a difference in terms of IB recruiting from those who were in the program and those who didn’t take it. We’ve all ended up in the same place. Not worth paying multiple grand for it.
wait I thought it was free?? it’s like apply and get in and then u learn
Hi Anonymous,
I'm Paige from Romero Mentoring. For IB recruiting, students of all experience levels will be recruited but the real difference is displayed in their job performance. Our analysts are ranked top-tier during their first year in IB, HF and consulting which leads to higher bonus compensation and also opens the door to more exit opportunities for them. Our founder works closely with our students on a 1-on-1 basis to help develop their skills. In terms of the tuition, we do provide scholarships and offer payment plan options for those who need the assistance. To learn more about the program from our students’ perspectives, visit our Reviews page on our website.
This program admittedly feels like a cash grab. My friend in high school took it and said the program had grown to where Luis Romero no longer even mentors one-on-one like he probably used to; he's enrolled the help of recent graduates and a freshman student to aid in his operations. I seriously considered enrolling last year but it felt like Luis tried to pressure me into paying for the program when I had concerns over the finances.
Might be for other schools. At my school, it’s like adding another class (~$5k/ person) which is ridiculous imo. The majority of people who do it have wealthy parents who are willing to blow that money
damn okay thanks for the insight
Since I just finished the program I think my opinion might help you on this one:
Romero Mentoring is a very competitive program (they interview you 3 times) and it requires a lot of time and dedication to succeed on it.
However, if you are a hard worker looking to improve your skills and gain an advantage against all your competition, this program will definitely help you. Mr Romero is an amazing professional who will do anything to help you and mentor you (both professionally and in life). After you complete the program you will have the necessary skills to apply to almost any IB and ER internship position.
The program is not free but they do offer merit scholarships for students who need them. I personally go to a non-target, got a partial scholarship and paid the rest with my savings - best investment I could’ve done.
As with anything in life, you will get out as much as you put in. But I guarantee you that there are not many programs that give you the experience and knowledge that Romero Mentoring offers.
Rate : 10/10
I haven't heard of this program before, but I highly doubt it's "very competitive."
Selling a Course 101: Create false demand and exclusivity.
I'm not knocking the course itself, it sounds great. I'd just refrain from calling it competitive, they'll take anybody's money lol.
I actually am an alum of the program and now interning at a boutique. The program gives a solid overview of all financial concepts and it gives plenty of opportunities to practice and work on those concepts through lots of financial modeling, DCF's, M&A pitches, investment decks, etc. It also is helpful for the alumni network, as it adds another set of established connections besides just alumni from your school. The mentorship component of the program was great as well, and I had a mentor who helped guide me through how to perform at a high level in finance. I am incredibly thankful for the entire experience and for the mentor I had as it helped start my career. I interned with Romero Capital as a freshman and I can say it was the main reason I landed subsequent internships. They do not have a pipeline to a specific bank though, but the alumni network spans all the bulge brackets and most of the top tier boutiques. Hope this helped!
Hi There,
I'm Paige from Romero Mentoring. Many of the students who’ve completed our Analyst Prep Program are currently working in IB, HF, PE or consulting. The program is rigorous and takes, on average, 5 months to complete. What makes the program unique is the 1-on-1 attention and mentorship students receive from our founder. You can learn more about the program from our students’ perspectives by visiting our Reviews page on our website.
In terms of the tuition, we provide scholarships and offer payment plans for students who need assistance. We also have a tuition-free program, the Finance Success Track, that you can apply to. Both programs will give you access to our community and our platform. There are many benefits to the program that you’ll learn from doing your own due diligence or by applying. Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn if you have any other questions.
I am an alum of the program, and in my opinion it has helped greatly in my recruiting for IB, through both the content and mentorship aspect of it (1 on 1 sessions are useful for resume building and interview prep especially). The program is rigorous and helps prepare you for life as an analyst (through building your modelling skills, excel skills, PowerPoint skills, etc.). It also provides you with valuable experience that you can talk about in your interviews that I feel helps separate you from the rest of the candidates. Moreover, you are much more prepared to answer technical questions, as you work with the concepts the interviewers ask technical questions about (i.e DCF, Comps, LBOs, etc.) throughout your time in the analyst prep program. Finally, you are given access to a wide network of alums who work at the top firms that can be used as a resource for you while recruiting. I hope this helps!
Did the program a while back when it was newer (it's come a long way since then)... had a solid experience, learned the basics, got in to a top shop, etc from a school that kinda sucks at sending people into finance.
Once you're at a BB/EB/HF/PE, you start getting emails from a lot of alums/strangers/etc looking for a way in, and frankly most of them know nothing/are wasting your time. When I hear from people in the program, I can at least be sure they give a shit/know or will know the basics. As someone who has to eventually recommend some of these people, I'd rather have a program like this to de-risk the chances of me referring an idiot instead of grilling/talking to them 5x myself.
You can say what you want about paying extra for "another class", but your professor doesn't care if you go to a BB after school or not. These kinds of programs are incentivized to see you through to the good seats as it makes them look better, and over time the network only grows on the back end. You're paying for coaching, a free network, and a resume boost. You decide if that's worth it to you or not, and be ready to work if it is (because the program won't do itself).
I just finished the Romero Mentoring program and I can say that it is worth it! At first, I was skeptical at the tuition price since I also had to pay for my college tuition, but with the help of their scholarships, I was able to pay the tuition! I enjoyed the program thoroughly and you’ll never have this experience from taking business classes in college: everything is hands-on and you learn from actually performing. It’s an active learning program - definitely worth it. You also get one on one meetings as well as access to webinars!
Hi,
I'm an alumni that completed the Analyst Prep Program. Coming from my unbiased perspective, I have obtained all the necessary and fundamental skills needed in Finance/Investment Banking through the program within 4 months. Despite the fact that I am still an undergraduate student pursuing a major in finance, I can proudly say the Analyst Prep program offers you the most valuable opportunity to master your Investment Banking fundamentals, valuation methodologies, modeling and all the other corresponding skills required for the aforementioned field, even prior to completing your college degree. It also offers you a huge pool of networking with other analysts/mentees that eventually pursue their careers in other well known banks.
Is there an astroturfing emoji?
Hello,
I am an alumnus of the Analyst Prep Program that is offered by Romero Mentoring. I was introduced to this program during my sophomore year in college. At the time I was really interested in breaking into the Finance industry but lacked the technical knowledge, relevant internship experience, and on top of that was an international student. Given the competitiveness of the industry and the plethora of rejection letters, I knew I had to do something different in order to make my application stand out. I applied to this program. Although skeptical at first due to the price, I quickly understood the importance of the program when I spoke to the founder Mr. Luis Romero. After 3 interview rounds, I was selected for this program. When I joined this program I did not know what EBIT/EBITDA was, let alone knew how to balance a balance sheet. At the end of the program, I was built full-blown financial model for companies like Apple, Microsoft, Chipotle, and Amazon. Not only did I build financial models, but also used various valuation methodologies to come up with a PT for each of the companies. I was also offered an internship which gave me the relevant work experience I needed. At my internship, I was introduced to LBO analysis and performed a real-life M&A transaction. All in all, this program is definitely recommended to students who were as clueless as me but had the grit and determination to make it into the industry. They have come a long way since then and this will definitely help you wayyy more than it can harm you.
If you have any questions about this program, feel free to reach out to me on my Linkedin.
