SA offer at DB?
Got an offer from DB recently (unsure of group yet), and contemplating whether or not to go through with it. Liked the people and it's obviously a great BB firm, but just wanted to know the perception of DB and the bank going forward. How are PE exit opps and comp?
100% dependent on your group
What are your alternatives? DB has pockets of strength but the past couple years have seen an enormous amount of turnover, low/no bonuses, and a culture that is deeply resistant to change. Those things probably won' affect you as a summer, but they're worth considering.
From what I hear, junior-level IBD bonuses weren't that bad at all (take it with grain of salt since this is coming from friends working at DB). DB sponsors/LevFin seem to provide the best exit opps from what I know, as the bank is known to be a good credit house.
LevFin is right behind BAML and JPM from what I understand. Never heard about sponsors before but if LevFin is strong, that makes sense.
Anyone have an idea about RE? I've heard from some people that it's a good group.
What are LevFin exit ops like? More Credit HFs or PE also an option?
As with everything, it is about your alternatives. If you have interviews coming up with top EBs and American BBs then maybe consider holding off. If your interviews are with MM shops or other foreign BBs, then DB is still a solid bank. You can place well coming from the stronger groups at DB and their culture is pretty amazing and very laid back.
That being said, they're in a rough patch. Going to be hard to recoup the lost market share, talent, etc. Thankfully for them, it doesn't look like any more regulatory or legal barriers at least for now. But be cognizant that it's a firm who is struggling right now and trying to regain its footing.
Again their IB division was not harmed. There has been 0 evidence of that. Every other division of the bank sure, but IB was pretty much unharmed
That's just blatantly not true. They have lost talent, they have lost market share, and people on the street are a little bit cautious about them.
Zero Evidence? How about people actually working and seeing deals, but if that's not good enough for you, go look up some historical league tables for the last decade.
