SF Move: Housing?

I’m moving to San Francisco soon and need help finding housing as I don’t have familiarity or connections with the area.

My budget is ~$3000 a month, and I would be ok with roommates if having them would allow me to live in a significantly nicer apartment or condo. I’m single and just finished two years of entry level banking and would prefer to be close to restaurants, nightlife, and peers. Further, I need to be in northern SF due to my work being located towards Berkeley.

Any advice?

Thank you for putting up that Facebook link. I’ll check it out.

I’ve heard really good things about the Marina and have found a couple nice potential residences there. So far it’s the best area I’ve come across with the caveat being my limited knowledge. In comparison, what are your thoughts on the other areas you listed given my criteria?

you're gonna have plenty of options with you budget. i would advise that you live with roomates though--the singles/studios are not very nice even at $2800. if you spend $2,500, and have roomates, you will have a very nice apartment. i would advise just finding one on craiglist. usually they get posted 2-3 weeks before the first of the month.
