Thanks of the intel. Apologies for the lack of clarity as I was referring to the Vision Fund.

Interesting - would you say the norm for PE recruiting in London is via headhunter/recruiter? In the US, it's the norm especially for megafunds and upper tier middle market firms, so I wanted to establish that as a baseline.

I know a bunch of folks at Vision Fund US. They're based out of an office in San Carlos. From what I've heard, it's complete chaos internally. They've hired a ton of folks across levels (at least 60 in the US last I heard), almost entirely former bankers or from PE. The group is loosely organized at the top with a handful of deal partners, with loose deal teams working under them. But there's no formal structure or coverage areas, so every deal partner competes internally with each other, trying to meet the same set of companies and convince Masa to bless their deals. Deal teams package together a ton of diligence materials to present to Masa. He personally meets with founders as a final step before deciding whether or not to invest.

Almost half of their money came from the Saudis who have so much cash to deploy it makes (some) sense for them to park 45bn with the Vision fund just to get stuff out the door. But if they had to raise a billion from 100 different institutional investors it would be more difficult
