I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
.
Had a buddy who worked for them and said the culture was terrible. Getting out before 10pm was considered leaving early, and working Saturdays is the norm. Not sure if/how COVID has changed that.
Brutal. Sad we are all living in a hamsters wheel.
Did you have an interview for SA or FT? How did it go .. any insight you could share?
Anyone know if compensation is on par with Starwood Capital Group?
Anyone on here have anything else worth sharing? There's a scarce amount of info about the Property Trust available on here despite the company being the largest REIT in the US and a seemingly competitive place to get hired.
From the analysts I've met working in SPT, I'd say the culture is probably not as bad as the above posters make it out to be. I've also met with the team back when I was in college and honestly everybody from the analysts to the MDs seemed great, respectful, and extremely sharp. Hours seem to be long, but that's going to be true for any role at a shop like that. I'm sure BREIT analysts are pulling the same hours if not worse, but haven't met any to be fair so could be wrong. You get to underwrite cool deals, work with smart people, and are exposed to hundreds of markets across the US and probably the world.
If the only reasons stopping you from applying is because you're scared of working long hours and a potentially less-than-optimal culture, you should stop looking at any reputable MF REPE/REIT firm because you're not going to find a cheery 9-5 job that pays you mid-six figures your first year out of undergrad.
I can't edit my comment for some reason but will add this:
Starwood, Brookfield, Blackstone, etc are all amazing places to start your career--and paying your dues by working those long hours and dealing with people in high stress environments will go far for your career if and when you choose to lateral downstream.
@RE-PE Thank you for giving the people what they want
