Study Abroad Dilema

Im planning on going to Sydney, Australia for the Spring 2008 semester which is during my junior year. Theres also a 90% chance that I'll get an internship at an MM firm on wall street through networking because I interviewed as a sophomore and didnt get it, but the MD told me to make sure that I contact him when Im a junior so he can get me in. The only problem is that the school semester in Sydney ends in late June and I'll prob have to be back in the U.S. by early June to start the internship. So do I:

-Take classes at the University of Syndey and somehow try to make it back home in time, ill prob have to arrange something with the professors there to do so.

or:

-Do an internship in Sydney where I'll be able to get back to the U.S. in time. The only problem with the internship in Sydney is that it prob wont be very presitigious because its through study-australia.com and i doubt they have anything available with BB's. It'll be something more along the lines of an internship with the Bank of China or something like that.

Thanks

p.s. does anyone know the starting date for Lehmans 2nd summer session for S&T

Stanford, Dartmouth, and Chicago all have trimester systems that end in June, and still get interns on Wall Street. When I studied abroad in the UK, we ended in June as well and people still interned back in the States. Don't worry about it; just tell HR at the start.

Sydney semesters end in early June, and exams are held between late June to 1st week of July. Depending on your courses, you may even finish all exams in Mid June, or unlucky enough to have a remaining exam until July 3rd or something.

No professors will not make special arrangements for you. University policy explicitly states in black&white that it is your responsibility not to make travel arrangements and alike until exam schedules are published.

To make your life more miserable, exam schedules are usually not finalized until mid May.

Why not study elsewhere? if you really want to study abroad. Why Sydney? But, if you have strong desire to be in sydney, work something out with your MD.

try a place with girls who don't speak your language. Watch the local guys try to seduce your female classmates. you can say whatever crazy would-be pickup line you can think of to girls who will either smile and giggle or turn away instantly. Less hassle, better education (you'll learn to pick up on body language). On the other hand, you won't learn as many rugby chants or why people down under call it "rooting", but what girl wants to "root" anyhow? most latin american and mediterranean programs have cakewalk programs for international students who are hardly expected to learn the language. Have more fun there.

Me and a few of my best friends made a pact at the end of highschool that we'd study abroad in Sydney and live together during the 2nd semester of our junior year b/c we all went to different colleges.

Besides that reason, I wana go surfing there, visit New Zealand and Fiji, the night life is apparently awesome, and the weed is better than anything found in the U.S.

Also, FHM mag. interviewed an Aussie babe and she said that Aussie girls love american accents but just dont try to pick up an Australian girl using an Australian accent, theyll think your a douche, trying to imitate their accent.
