I had an important BB early - Lehman, so I cancelled 4 superdays. I ended up with 2 summer offers in addition to Lehman. Didn't get rejected at all because of that early offer - I probably wouldnt have as good luck if i didn't get lucky early.

Cancelled every superday I didn't think I would take over Lehman. Lehman accepted my school's offer policy and gave me almost 3-4 weeks to accept. Unfortunately, I didn't end up signing with Lehman and fast tracking was a non-issue, I was able to get everything done in the required time period.

Once you get that first offer, others come a lot easier.

The first bank to give me an offer was the bank I ended up choosing, but I continued to interview and got two more offers. My bank didn't give me a time frame, but it wouldn't have mattered because I got my next two offers within the next 2 days.

What do you mean by that? Do you just mean that you're more relaxed for future interviews, or does mentioning that you received an offer make them more likely to hire you?

You are certainly more relaxed because you have that offer in your back pocket.

I was asked in every final round (and I ask interviewees this now) whether I had any other competing offers. In my case I think it helped because all my offers were from comparative banks (think ML/LB/CS, etc), so each bank thought they had a good chance of getting me to sign on if they gave me an offer.

But I know it can also hurt you; we have not given offers to people who had GS/MS offers in hand because we didn't think they would accept.

Would this also apply if you tell the interviewer you have a final round with GS/MS? Would a smaller bank like Bear or HLHZ be less willing to give you an offer if they know you have a final round with GS/MS?

^ alright so if you have an offer from GS/MS than you are unlikely to get an offer from one of the other banks. But what if they find out that you are merely interviewing with MS/GS as well..are they still reluctant to give an offer.

In my experience, simply having an interview at GS/MS has no affect on getting an offer; it's only when you have that offer in hand does it come into play.

My roommate got an offer from GS right before his final rounds with DB/BofA/LB. Didn't get an offer from any of those banks.

I sometimes think it is unfair to be cut off by banks because of GS/MS If a candidate is still interviewing there might be some genuine interest such as Charlotte vs NYC for BoA etc.
