The movie Boiler Room
is so underrated. Even my doctor friend thought it was amazing, unlike the movies it quotes, which may be for a Wall St. audience only.

your point bro?
See how it feels when you're makin' their fuckin' Lexus payments.
ben affleck wasn't right for the part.
i thought the movie sucked. Enjoyed Wall street MUCH more
I like the movie a lot, but it is definitely a huge piece of shit
Boiler Room is such an awful movie. (Originally Posted: 05/02/2012)
Awful... awful movie.
I can't believe some of you said it was good.
It's still very relevant for all us poor suckers stuck with PWM sweat shop gigs.
Its a good movie.... for a stockbroker lol haha i used the film to help me with my old telemarketing job; other than that i dont think its Wall Street worthy :P
You know, I was being too harsh. It's not a bad movie, acting, pacing, and direction are fine, but the holy stockbroker chop shop thing is stupid.
what blows my mind is that peope to this day still sell stocks over cold calling! the best realistic stockbroker job i could find was this
it doesnt get to the stockbroker part till 11:23
Love the big douchey Texas QB broker
Good movie
first 2/3 are really good, then it gets stupid
Let's be honest here, everyone on this site would be doing Boiler Room work at JT Marlin instead of banking if they could actually make that much money.
I know a few retail brokers pulling in $90+ a month.
I can vouch for the movie's authenticity, for whatever that's worth.
Boiler room was phenomenal.
I thought it was a fun movie with a lot of good quotes. It's not really a finance movie. If you want a finance movie I loved Margin Call.
I thought Margin Call was a little boring to be honest. It had promise but really flattened out towards the end.
I wish they showed more of an ending. Was kind of disappointed in that, but thought it was good overall.
RECOoooooooo
Boiler Room was a great movie. It isn't tremendously applicable to the industry today, but that doesn't detract from it's quality.
not a big fan of movies that fetishize finance, although I'd b lying if I said I didn't like the first Wall Street
2-RIP
Why you hating on JT Marlin?
Ben Affleck scene is classic. Great movie. You bite your tongue, OP!
This is how the movie starts out:
"I read this article a while back, that said that Microsoft employs more millionaire secretary's that any other company in the world. They took stock options over Christmas bonuses. It was a good move. I remember there was this picture, of one of the groundskeepers next to his Ferrari. Blew my mind. you see shit like that, and it just plants seeds, makes you think its possible, even easy. And then you turn on the TV, and there's just more of it. The $87 Million lottery winner, that kid actor that just made 20 million on his last movie, that internet stock that shot through the roof, you could have made millions if you had just gotten in early, and that's exactly what I wanted to do: get in. I didn't want to be an innovator any more, i just wanted to make the quick and easy buck, i just wanted in. The Notorious BIG said it best: "Either you're slingin' crack-rock, or you've got a wicked jump-shot." Nobody wants to work for it anymore. There's no honor in taking that after school job at Mickey Dee's, honor's in the dollar, kid. So I went the white boy way of slinging crack-rock: I became a stock broker. "
Fucking classic.
I built my business plan from Boiler Room.
