The sneakers with suits/slacks look is horrendous, why is this a thing?
Its worse than the midtown uniform. Id rather be seen in a flock of 15 patagucci wearing midtown uniform bros heading to sweetgreen than be caught dead strolling the office in nike frees slacks and a light blue dress shirt.
Even worse, now all the boomers are adopting the look. Looks very cringe.
If you want to wear sneakers...then dress down completely. No half measures.
Edit: only acceptable if you are in the middle of a walking commute, or are an ex nfl player with CTE and hip/ lower body issues( see nfl panels on tv)
It's those silicon valley rebels, trying to look like the biggest assholes on the block because they're edgy.
Then dipshits try to co-opt the look because it's trendy. It's absolutely awful and wildly impractical if you belong or would like to enter any social club that matters.
God I hate FAANGots. Just want to obliterate their smug faces and shit down their throats
As an upcoming diversity candidate for the LGBT programs I believe I’m supposed to take offence at this.

They really, and I mean REALLY, like to be perceived as quirky or whatever the fukc they are going for. It just comes off as fukcing weird. If you have the courage mr. Soy boy go all the way if not stick to what everyone’s wearing.

Because sneakers are more comfortable than dress shoes and who gives af when not meeting with clients?
Then why wear a suit and slacks? Just wear a t shirt and jeans then.
Those are more comfortable too. And you arent meeting clients as you said....
The mix makes no sense to me.
Should have clarified. Talking casual slacks like lulu and button down. Definitely not with a suit
Guilty. I only do this to spare my work shoes the wear and tear of a 20 minute walking commute each way.
Am deeply ashamed. Grateful that a mask keeps me anonymous.
It's fine on a commute, right? I wear sneakers on the commute and I don't give a fuck. I'm not ruining my dress shoes so that some rando is pleased with how I look.
I shouldn't give a shit, but I do. It's the shoe equivalent to me of a tailored suit with a skinny square tie.
Just get some decent looking casual shoes that AREN'T sneakers and aren't white for walking to work.
No. That looks so bad.
No, just like a casual shoe from Allen Edmonds or even Lacoste that's dark and not high tops or with a big tongue. Dark laces. No one's going to bat an eyelid if you wear that to walk to work and then change into your work shoes
You guys still wear suits?
there are associates and analysts that walk around my bb floor in nice slacks, tailored dress shirts, and hideous sneakers that look like they were used in their college intramural games.
TMT MDs walk around in those boomer shoes (leather upper, flat white soles) with suits
then add in all the vest wearers....
its actually embarrassing being back in the office. rather just stay home then be associated with this
Who cares? If that many people think they look dumb then you just look better in comparison. Just raises the relative value of your sense of style.
Who gives a shit? Dress shoes are expensive and wear easily. Y’all have this “this is how it’s always been done and so I will continue to do it this way” mentality for everything
Then don't wear a damn suit!
Its acceptable now to wear a suit with sneakers in office
What if I wore t shirt shorts and park avenues in the office? I'd look like a fool. There's no difference in my opinion.
???
You’re agreeing with me…
Just put on sneakers for commute. Actually tbh I forget to change. But agree it’s not great. When people actually do it in purose it’s quite ridiculous, but most people don’t know how to wear suits tbh
I do it everytime I wear a suit. Busted knees, back, etc. They are all black (laces, soles trim) extra comfy Rockports. You would have to really look to see it. I mean how many times do you look at a man's shoes?
Never an issue. Couple of guys asked me if it was due to football. After a yes, no one gave a crap.
Now, if I were a millenial wearing Chuck Taylors...
It looks terrible...There are so many comfortable dress shoes too. I feel like my Ferragamos are super comfortable for my commute, cap toe lace-up slightly less but whatever.
Black/navy margiela replicas (or similar) can work with non pressed slacks and a button down, but yeah if you’re wearing Nike frees or ultraboosts with pressed slacks you look like a California spergball
Personally, I hate the sneakers that try to look like dress shoes the most. Super tacky
Agree.
