The Ups and Downs of Recruiting

Hi Monkeys,

I'm a sophomore at a complete nontarget that just received an offer for SA 2022. I wanted to make a post for a couple of reasons. I can't thank this forum enough. Having people that engage and keep others up to date on timelines and processes is invaluable. The archive of posts that cover every single topic you need is amazing. Thank you WSO team and thank you to everyone who contributes.

To the students who are still recruiting: It's tough. I get it. I went 1/6 on super days... that's horrible. I felt really bad about recruiting, a week ago I was down in the dumps. Recruiting is not linear. Some of those SDs I performed extremely well, better than the bank that gave me an offer, and got rejected. I had kids at my school that were less prepared and probably worse candidates than me that placed before me. Recruiting is not a meritocracy, there are so many factors at play. The only thing you can do is keep on grinding! Keep networking. Keep prepping. Keep giving it you all when you get shots and you will place. I have faith in you monkeys, you just need to have faith in yourselves.

I'm happy to be a resource to anyone that I can. Feel free to comment below and I'm happy to DM and help.

I'm also a sophomore at non-target. I'm assuming u did a shit ton of networking but was it mostly cold or alum? I'm not having any luck w my networking nd kinda scared I won't b able to get anything for sa22 any advice would be appreciated

Hey brotha – I did a ridiculous amount of networking. Some was with alum but most was cold. Just have to pound the emails. I had to email 12 people at one firm before someone responded. When he did he connected me with others and got me a SD.

If I were you I would figure out who is still recruiting and have 3-5 emails go out to people at the firm tomorrow. From there follow up in a week with each one and keep sending additional emails as needed. It's really just a numbers game

I have an offer I'm pretty satisfied with. If it was a bank that I would hate to be at and is known to be horrible I would consider continuing recruiting and reneging.

hi! I really appreciate this post and I am from a west coast target school and just received offers from MS and GS. (very lucky idk how it happened) but I would also be happy to help so please PM if you have any questions on recruiting/offers etc.!
