Thoughts on Monitor Deloitte?
Hey guys,
I've received an offer from Monitor Deloitte in an East Coast office in the United States. How is Monitor Deloitte perceived by the industry? What industries do they specialize in the most? What are the exit opps and B-School placements like?
Thanks!
bump
Monitor Deloitte is the pure strategy arm of Deloitte. Most people agree that Deloitte is currently the number 4 firm (some people argue Strategy& or OW), and that Monitor Deloitte is the most prestigious arm of Deloitte Consulting. Even at MBB, a majority of projects aren't pure strategy anymore.
If you're interesting in strategy consulting, it's a great opportunity. That said, what level are you coming in at? Generally below Manager level, Deloitte hires you as a generalist, not to a specific service line.
For the other questions, you should be able to get into M7 business school fairly easy assuming you do well on the GMAT. They cover every industry. Exit ops: I knew a 24 year old with only 2 years experience in Monitor Deloitte (He was hired by legacy monitor right before monitor got bought by Deloitte, so he wasn't a generalist) who got a $130k offer from big tech.
I'll be coming in as a Consultant - this is the position they're offering me straight out of undergrad. I'll be a generalist rather than specializing in one service lin
Since it's the the pure strategy arm, will a higher % of my total projects be strategy based rather than operations/implementation? I'm a bit confused on how the projects differ from MD to the general S&O division.
Thanks for the info!
Undergrad hires come in as business analyst, consultant is the position after two years. Generalist means you can have projects in any of Deloitte S&O's service lines - of which, Monitor Deloitte is one of seven. Is your offer in Deloitte S&O, or Monitor Deloitte service line? If they started making exceptions and putting people directly into service lines from undergrad I'd be surprised.
Note, this is only applies in U.S. Things are different in Canada.
How are you coming in at Consultant level straight out of undergrad?
Monitor Deloitte is its one brand and unit within Deloitte, so you will be working for Monitor. Is it possible to do a project in Deloitte if you really want to? Yes. But this is the exception and not the rule.
So individual components of this make sense. Deloitte does hire Consultants out of college (DHCs) but they normally do it for a specified program and it's all with a grad degree. Monitor Deloitte recruits as an entity on certain campuses (think Ivies) but does the normal Business Analyst thing.
These aren't combined though - Strategy doesn't need to identify individual people to come in because they have gobs of people desperately wanting to work in the service line.
So either misinterpretation or Deloitte has decided to do something that is way way way outside their norm and they have never done before.
Allow to clearify a bit. As I commented earlier, Monitor is its own brand. However, it collaborates with Deloitte Consulting (as it should!) This means, that Deloitte consulting sometimes also promotes Monitor on job fares etc. But working for Monitor is different. It is now just another service line within Deloitte consulting. It is a seperate recruiting process, separate training programs, different pricing in the market etc.
NOT just another service line...Sorry
what's going on here? this isn't really making sense...
Interested in the real story here--wish this person would come back and update. Deloitte doesn't hire people at the Consultant level straight out of UG. It just doesn't happen, and the stuff about "Monitor does their own thing"--its still a Service Line in S&O. Seems like poster is a bit confused about their offer.
