Top 3 BB Capital Markets v.s. Top 3 BB Asset Management (Equities) v.s. BlackRock (Equities)

This is my first time posting so I hope I haven't made any errors but I was just wondering what everyone else's thoughts were on these three opportunities as a first internship? I don't know much about capital markets but I'm worried that not a lot of valuation is done in the role which severely limits your opportunities (from what I've heard so far).

If you were to begin your career in asset management, would you rather start at a top BB or a top asset manager such as BlackRock?

Thanks!

Top AMer definitely. WIll make less money short term (VS. BB) because they don't pay at the base IB scale. However, being with an AM firm means you are the show - regardless of role. You are what they do. All resources are dedicated to The management of money, the creation of product, and the distribution of those products both to institutional and intermediated markets. You are not the AM silo within a much larger framework. In addition to resources, it's about culture. The culture at a BB is that of a BB which is quite different than the AM shops.

Speak to people at both and you'll figure that out quickly.
