Type 1 Diabetes and Finance?
Does anyone else have type 1 diabetes? Type 1 diabetes is a autoimmune disorder in which the body attacks the pancreas and it can no longer produce insulin. It is not caused by sugar or body weight. It does however require multiple daily insulin injections. For those of you with T1D who work in IB or any other high finance career like S&T, how do you deal? The stress, hours, lack of sleep, and takeout dinners seem to be a recipe for horrible glucose levels. Do you use a pump or injections? How do you keep sugars in range? Do have any tips? Is it possible to have a good A1C and work in IB or S&T?
Also how open are you about T1D at work? Do you tell people? Do you take injections at your desk or go to the bathroom?

People will be fine with insulin injections. I used to do coffee enemas in the office pantry.

this is honestly not helpful. What's wrong with you?

Anyone have any experiences on this topic?
I'm going to add that I feel like this will be a non-issue in finance. We are a bunch of genius misfit retards. If you need to go into the (very nice marble walled) bathroom twice a day to shoot insulin nobody's gonna care. Just talk to the boss and HR first so they know what you're shooting. I think somebody on my floor is shooting estrogen. It's none of my business, and as long as she's explained it to management, why should I care as long as there aren't needles all around?
>shooting up estrogen
Yup, it´s the Current Year TM alright
Takeout dinners are something you can control pretty well without much effort: there are plenty of shops in NYC doing very healthy food within the budget.
Sorry to bump an old thread but as a T1D I’d love to get more perspective on this and how people manage T1D in a stressful job
Am a T1D in IB at a sweaty place and it’s very manageable. Most important thing is to have extra supplies at your desk at all times and to make sure that those around you know about your diabetes in case you go low at some point. Nobody will look at you negatively for diabetes. Most people don’t care at all about me having it. Some are even impressed that I manage my diabetes while working long hours.
Feel free to PM me it’s so much more than going to shoot up in the bathroom twice a day.
