Career Resources
Good question. I have to admit, although there are lots and lots of skills you can develop as an investment banker, there are not any that aren't exercised in other career paths. But, perhaps as a cluster, there are no other jobs that meet all and only these skills, and so this investment banking is unique.
These skills you will learn are:
Faster and more precise decision making, Numerical ability, Ability to work in a team, Working well in high pressure situations, Effective at meeting deadlines A dedication and passion for the role.
Interesting what you said. I know general belief is that investment bankings requires high numerical skills, but what are examples of numerical ability skills that are needed?
I'd say good mental arithmetic is a must but it never hurts to have some statistical knowledge! Also, as a side note, always good to be well-versed on Excel and PowerPoint for such roles.
A

The only unique skill you'll develop coming out of IB is the stamina to live through 100-hour weeks without dying.
I would say: a sense of urgency. Ability to recognize that the timeliness of your work impacts the whole team supporting you. How not to be a bottleneck, no matter the cost to yourself and your work life balance...
Yeah that definitely doesn't apply to any other field...
Uhhh based on the quality of financials we get from clients, I would not be surprised
Thank you! This is very helpful.

"I can currently sit motionless in front of a screen for 28 hours, and I am improving daily."
