USMC -> VC

Hey WSO,

Pretty new to the forum, but I wanted to ask if anyone could give some advice to a junior officer in the USMC trying to get into Venture Capital. I may be getting ahead of myself here, I am still in the training pipeline, just finished TBS, headed to IOC, and onto LAR leader's course to become a light armored reconnaissance officer. But I am on a reserve contract, with only one year of active duty ahead of me, before I join my reserve unit. So it's not that far out till I have to find a civilian job again. To add some more background, I graduated from a public non-target University with a double major and 3.9 GPA, and I have completed a few internships.

Going into Venture Capital is an exciting and challenging dream of mine, though I know how competitive it can be. I wanted to ask what may be the best route for me to gain entry into the field? Would it be through an MBA? Or would I have to leapfrog first from a position in IB or consulting? Or is there another route one might recommend?

Ut aut sed ut. Voluptatem praesentium repellat officia blanditiis nulla harum. Placeat deserunt autem sed aut laboriosam.
