Want to do IB then move to PE, or potentially do PE out of undergrad, need college advice?
From what I’ve seen I believe there are two paths for this.
One path is I’ll need about 2 years in IB before I can make a move to a PE MF, id ideally like to go to a New York EB or BB for IB, but after 2 years in a IB I want to go into PE ideally on the west coast, but location doesn’t matter that much (SF or LA). Which school will set me up best for this path?
The second path would be going to PE out of undergrad. But I’m not sure if it is possible to go straight into PE after undergrad (at a firm with a smaller amount in AUM) and then make a move from a “smaller” fund to a MF? If this is an option, what school would you all recommend for this path?
I would prefer going straight into PE out of undergrad and working on the west coast, and then make a move to a PE MF, but if that is extremely difficult or not feasible, than I’d do 2 years in IB path I first mentioned above.
Any advice would be great.
Posting something similar again because my goals have changed.

COLLEGES IM PICKING BETWEEN: USC MARSHALL BBA AND UMICH ROSS BBA
Can’t believe I didn’t include that in the question
Will do a BBA with finance concentration + IT Minor.
Marshall for West Coast BB/EB -> PE Associate path and maybe direct to PE Analyst from UG (very rare but it happens from Marshall occasionally, I wouldn't even recommend a PE analyst path but that's another post)
Ross for CHI / East Coast opportunities.
Now go out there and build a kickass life. The most important thing for your recruiting - beyond GPA - is that you develop as a "normal," well rounded person.
So ur in high school and talking about how you might have to settle by going to an EB or BB for two years? Lol alright.
LMAO RIGHT
Ross will have better opportunities for IB in NYC. I wouldn’t count on getting PE specifically on the West Coast right out of undergrad from either school. I’m sure it’s been done, but it’s not worth considering.
Go drink a beer and talk to some girls dude
you're too young to be thinking about these things - go get hammered with your hs friends and enjoy the easy life
Dude how many threads are you gonna make on Ross vs. Marshall
