Wearing Gucci instead of Allen Edmond?

Was shopping around and tried on these Gucci shoes that look like a nice Cap Toe. I found these to be a more modern-looking and more comfortable than the Park Avenues. My only concern is that they actually say "Gucci" on them. Would that be an issue?

I'd get the black ones

If you're going for style, then sure, go with the Gucci shoes...Gucci is a fashion brand. Just realize that that's what you're paying for.

If you are going for a well-made shoe that will last, you're much better off with Allen Edmonds (you can have them completely recrafted for the rest of your life for under $150) or Alden.

Alternatively, if you're going to spend that kind of money, buy some Church's, Loake, Alfred Sargent, Santoni, Moreschi, etc. You can find all of them in the price range you're looking at.

Just be aware Gucci's lace-ups tend to develop creases much easier than peers in their price range (Alden, Church's etc). Just something to be aware of if you walk quite a bit around town. Not all $500 shoes are created equal.

Personally if I was looking for something in that color and price range, I would get Alden's Shell Cordovan in the Cigar.

I'm no shoe expert, but if they crease easier doesn't that mean that the leather is softer (which makes them more comfortable)?

Softer or of lower quality. Anyway, what it also means is that your shoes will look worn out much faster, which is bad.

Hi, Eric Stratton, rush chairman, damn glad to meet you.
