Wells Fargo Placement

Hi,

Received an offer for Wells Fargo 2021...is placement as bad as everyone says? As far as your location/group preferences? Wondering if there is a vocal minority of those who didn't get their preferences or if it is pervasive...Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I was asking on behalf of someone else, but became curious after what they told me about the randomness of placement. I am FT at another shop, don't know many people at WFS.

Just went through it, and the process itself is somewhat stressful. We'll see whether it works out for me, but almost everyone gets one of their top choices when it shakes out according to the staff.

That is what I am trying to gauge here. It seems a little different from other banks, but I am not that close to the process. I have ranked SAs at my firm, but haven't worked at Wells.

It's super weird. They have interns rank their top 10 group/location preferences, and then put the rest into two tiers after that. Then the groups preference rank the candidates they met, and there's some sort of draft to determine who goes where. It's not an optimization function though, it's mostly based on the groups' preferences from what I can tell.

Tech SF, E&P Charlotte, and MMIB LA. Odd ones I know, but I just went based off of the people I met

when you say TMT/sponsors/industrials/ is that coverage or is that a product group?

Pulling for you guys. My buddies little brother is in the process as well, hoping that you all get what you want.

I dont understand why campus recruiting allows the groups to see our placement lists. It should be blind for both parties and for campus recruiting to just do the matching.
