What Annoying Emails do you Get?

So I don't know about you guys, but at my office, people have the annoying habit of sending around news articles that they feel pertain to our group. Sometimes the articles actually manage to talk about what our group is doing, but most of the time our relation to the news comes in the form of a offhand quote buried amidst the rest of the article. To put it bluntly, it's completely irrelevant.

Sure, I understand the thought behind these emails, but to me it just seems that you have a burning desire to show your intellect in the workplace. Yes, I understand that you read the WSJ, we all do. If I wanted to read that article, I would have read it myself.

So I'll throw the question over to you guys. What is your least favorite email to receive?

Agreed. Definitely gives you brownie points when you circulate to a group or send an individual senior banker. Especially good when you're a first year and don't know very much and can demonstrate that you are following the news and know what is worth sending around. As a junior junior banker, you don't add a ton of value, so it's worthwhile to get credit wherever you can.

100% agree with Sil. Not in banking now, but sending articles to my team gets me points. But I make sure to write a blurb on the reason I'm sending it, along with the full article. The fact is, some articles contain a very key element to your job, although the article is not indtended to talk about that topic. Being on top of things never stops. When you show you get it, especially outside of your normal functional expectations, people know that you can handle more. Plus, you're hired for a specific reason. You must meet that reason by going above expectations anyway. I definitely wouldn't compromise my integrity by spamming the team just because you want the points.

My associate was so idiot that he asked me (by email) to make screenshots of a website several times. All this while he was at his laptop looking at the same fckn page.

One time I received an EMAIL that said "Congratulations, you have been ACCEPTED to STANFORD university." I thought it was LAME and STUPID, so I marked it as SPAM.
