What firms have ended/finished up 2021 SA recruiting??
Hey guys. Sophomore at a target school here (or at least i hope it is as us West Coast schools get shat on by WS) who's joined the finance recruiting process in the last few months. I was wondering if anyone had a list of firms that are basically done with recruiting/interviewing for their SA 2021 programs. I was abroad during the winter, so I didn't get the chance to network on campus and then as I was sending apps to all these different firms (IB, PE, HF, honestly anything at this point), I was frankly startled by how silent my inbox was. So i've only recently been jacking up the networking aspect, but I'm geuninely worried I'm too late for the EBs and boutiques and only have the BBs (big bois) left as possibilities. So rather than divert my energy to network with firms that already have full 2021 classes, I'd rather focus on the ones that I can shoot for realistically. So anybody have a solid list of places that are done hiring or it's too late now?
Thanks.

As far as I know the recruiting process generally opens up for target schools mid-summer in the summer beforehand. For context I’m from a non-target and had OCR in September, got & accepted offer / all set by November — this is pretty standard. I’m aware that as early as July/August the portals for applying open, and even June/July it’s common to have recruiting for target applicants. I really don’t think you should worry about positions for next summer closing up at this point, as we haven’t even touched that early bird June/July recruiting timeline yet. Especially in the current environment recruiting will likely be behind schedule if anything, certainly not closing up earlier than usual. Good luck!
Most EBs have wrapped up their recruiting already. also some MM and BB diversity + Citi too, right?
Yea exactly. I had no clue people were already starting early February.
My offer is from a BB so that’s really all I can speak on, but I’m aware these top tier banks take on some ~3000 interns each summer, so I can’t imagine they’re full already. We haven’t even been placed on specific teams yet, as HR understandably needs time to figure out THIS summer’s situation still. Could imagine smaller/more nimble firms are farther along in recruiting though
Thanks for your comments. I’ve just been putting in applications for a lot of places like Citi, Lazard, PWP, and also PE firms like Ares and Blackstone and it seems other students are already moving forward with interviews, so I can’t help but feel anxious that my application’s not even getting a glance.
yeah PWP is more or less done
At least for BB recruiting you’re still way ahead of the normal schedule, so I really wouldn’t worry yet — just stay focused and keep sending applications. No reason to throw in the towel before this summer’s interns even start!
AFAIK, PJT Rx and Evercore M&A are done, for targets at least. Other EBs seem like they've started/are starting now.
For BBs, I think only Citi has gone
do you know when applications were submitted for all these firms that are already done? I submitted my evercore app like march 25 and citi and pjt mid-April. Was I too late??
either way, if you haven’t had a first round yet you likely got dinged
I was told Evercore was rolling starting 4/1, so you weren't too late there. Citi I was told 3/10, so you might've missed that. Never applied to PJT so I can't speak on that one
Citi - Houston will be done by the end of next week
HL RX and CF have both given out offers. BMO has given offers at targets.
same question here as above. do you know when students who got offers from these firms submitted applications? I submitted mine mid april and it said they were still open on the site.
You can't even apply at EVR anymore. I think Moelis hasn't started yet, but I've heard they're pretty set on who they're going to interview. GHL is in the process/it's too late. I think PWP is done. Citi is done. HL is starting their accelerated process, but they're planning on holding another one in the fall so you can still network there. Baird is done. Ducera Partners is done. Morgan Stanley in MP is done, MS NY hasn't started.
CS started their process but it's paused. Barcap isn't sure of when they're starting, but they're wrapping up diversity. Not sure about Simmons in Houston. DB is no longer a BB, UBS hasn't opened their apps yet, TD just opened their apps but you don't want to go there. Lazard pushed back. GS and JPM open July 1. BofA opens July 1.
Yeah EVR is done. Moelis started sending out invites for first rounds, apps closed.
Moelis gave 4 offers at my school already. two diversity back in jan/feb, and 2 last week
TPH has started and given offers.
Whoops, my bad. I'll fix that.
I think Guggenheim still has apps open but if you haven't done any networking by now then it'll be tough to get an interview
What's wrong with TDS? I actually like the firm, just wondering your thoughts.
It’s a Canadian bank that isn’t as successful as RBC. Many argue about the “prestige” of RBC even; its best to work in a bigger-name bank at the start of your career unless you’re planning on staying in banking for a long time.
I personally don’t see myself doing something like TD—> Evercore as an associate —> GS/MS/JPM/EVR/LAZ/etc VP —> MD. I personally know that what I want is 2 years IB, recruit to PE/VC/HF and go to a top business school. TD just doesn’t provide that opportunity AS WELL AS other opportunities. It’s still a great bank, you’re still on Wall Street, you can still do exactly what I’ve described, but it’s not as easy as if you start out at a bank like Credit Suisse or Moelis where they’re extremely well-known. It all depends on personal preference and goals.
does anyone know what's up with Lazard? I'm not sure if their recruiting's already over or what.
have heard most offices other than NY are wrapping up, they may be done with diversity recruiting
They have pushed their process closer to the end of summer in NY. Source: heavy alumni presence from my school at Laz.
which firms haven't opened applications yet?
Anyone know where PJT is?
done with rssg, m&a in summer
Any idea of when during summer? As in early June, late July, or early August? Trying to glean if I have time to network.
following
same lol. anyone got updates in s&t related opportunities?
To get back to the original question, this is the list of firms I currently have that are closed or are in the midst of interviewing, thus being unrealistic options (not all are IB btw):
Evercore, Houlihan Lokey, Ares, Moelis, Blackstone, Citi, PJT Strategic advisor (M&A still open)
Please add to this thread or update this list if you know of anymore (I'm sure I'm missing a lot)
PJT Strategic Advisory is M&A tho?
Lol is it restructuring then? I honestly don't know why some firms say strategic advisory and other firms say M&A. thanks for pointing that out
Which RX groups are still recruiting? Or are they all underway/done?
