Where do I fall into?

Is there a specific category for people with less than one year of experience?

I graduated from college in May of 2011 and has been working since July. I have been browsing through different companies' website and can only find either "Undergraduate Students" or "Experienced Hired". Due to the fact that I do not work in consulting, I am not considered an experienced hired. I would like to apply for 1st year analyst, but unfortunately I am no longer in school.

How should I apply?

Thanks!

Based on what I've been reading on similar threads in this forum, I think you would have to apply under the category 'undergraduate student,' and do a lot of networking to get an interview. You should tap into your school's alumni network to talk and network with alums who work at the companies you're interested in. Good luck!

I second the previous posters. I met a person who was recruiting in the fall semester after having graduated that got offers from two out of three MBBs. I met him at sell day and don't really know what his past internships where, or whether he was working or not. The only thing I know is that he did a master's in engineering at a top program. I don't even remember his name, so I can't look for him on LinkedIn. Sorry that I can't help with much else.

Do network! You also need to come up with a clear explanation as to why you realized now that you wanted consulting. Try to find people that work in the firms that interest you and test your story on them. They could really tell you what the do's and dont's are.
