Hey guys,
I'll be starting at Drexel as an undergraduate transfer. I'm going to be a Finance major, and I should have enough general electives leftover to get a minor.
Some of the minors have crossover classes with my major, and would be shorter to complete. These would be:
Data Science
Economics
International Economics
Legal Studies
Management Information Systems
Real Estate Management and Development.
They would all take me between 16-20 units to complete.
There's some other minors I could "probably" fit in, but would take a lot more work:
Business Analytics
Comp Sci
Energy Innovations
My future career (hopefully) involves Real Estate PE, Public Finance, Energy Finance, or maybe Risk Mgmt if I have the skills for it.
Given this information, which minor do you think you would take in my situation?
In addition, is Business Analytics worth more than Data Science? It would take 8 more units to complete so it's much more stressful.
There's also the other aspect of using the classes in my minor to complete pre-reqs for graduate school programs (thinking MS Econ, Applied Econ, MBA, MFE, MSF). In that case, I think Data Science or Economics would probably be the most valuable. Any advice is appreciated!
I think data science is your best bet. Data science really allows you to create patterns and relationships in large sets of data.
However, I think you might want to check again with Data science because it is by no means that simple of a major/minor. Usually you will need a few structured languages as well as a few database classes. (C++ & SQL).

I wouldn't underestimate those computer programming courses. I don't know how rigorous CS is at Drexel, but you will probably be taking those courses with actual engineers so really, be careful.
The minor looks solid though, if you think you can handle it, then definitely go for it. It's a super interesting field and it's very very new.

What about Business Analytics?
A lot of great options, but my suggestion would be Data Science or possibly Economics, especially if you can take math-intensive courses, such as Econometrics. Learning to synthesize information from large data sets is a very marketable tool.

I can take applied econometrics in regular or international econ
I've been recently informed that I can actually add a co major and it'll only take a couple extra classes over a minor, and that way I can have a second degree on my diploma. My choices are 1. Technology Innovation Management, 2. Business Analytics, 3. International Business, and 4. Business Economics.
All of them have their pros and cons, but I'm leaning towards Business Econ or Business Analytics
