Will my offer get rescinded if I pull this crap

Hi, current incoming SA for a Boston IB (think Aeris, Shea, AGC). To be honest, didn't really go for some of the bigger name brand banks because I was pretty spooked by the recruiting process. Full time is looking sorta bleak and I am planning to take the fall of my senior year off to re-recruit and get a name brand on my resume.

Issue is, good boutiques have already begun interviewing. If I change my graduation date and start networking/potentially interviewing as a delayed sophomore before my 2021 internship, does that put me at risk of getting my offer rescinded? My current bank obviously does not know - but Finance is a small world and there are rats everywhere: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/current-ib….

Should I wait until my internship starts before I start recruiting? Or should I run the risk and get started early?

Just do FT recruiting and then try and lateral. AGC tier is good enough for a lower BB upper MM if you’re good.

Too late to get a good SA 2022 now though plus you’d forgo like 2 years of your life. You’ll be alright, just focus on getting the return + Ft recruiting

FT seems much harder to do than taking another summer off and doing junior year recruiting 2.0. And if utilizing a gap semester isn't exactly looked down upon so long as I have a good reason, why not take the shot?

Agreed with previous posters. Go into the summer with an open mind and give your best effort. Secure the return offer and use it to shop around full-time to see what options you land. This way you can quickly get 1 year of high-quality IB experience and then lateral if you like. If you want to dedicate the next 2 years of your life to getting a Deutsche DCM offer, we can't stop you. I think getting a return, shopping around, and picking up some reps is a practical approach. Congrats on your SA and good luck.
