Would you pay to go to space?
Blue Origin charges ~1.25 million for a ride on its rocket. Virgin Galactic charges 250k a seat. There are some other startups like World View and Space Perspective working on balloon vehicles that go to space.
would you ever spend that kind of money on a one day trip like that?
no
looks like I'm the only one that agrees with you. I'm not interested in it.
absolutely. anyone can travel to different parts of the world i.e. a trip to europe or an excursion to africa to go see some animals. but going to space is a rare opportunity that i think anyone would take up, contingent on monetary funds being sufficient and in surplus so as to allow other bills to be paid. i would do it lol
I'd give a significant portion of my future wealth to get a chance to see Earth from space, and years of my life if I could go to the moon.
If I had the money, yes, I absolutely would.
The space program for a few decades is one of the most incredible achievements in the history of mankind. The amount of innovation, ambition, intelligence, and sheet guts it took to pull that off, with technology that is 50-60+ years old at this point... it's really hard to process. A total aside, but I'm in awe whenever I read about that period of time and the various programs.
There are multiple tech companies I have met which facilitate "alternative travel opportunities". Some are like travel agents, some have their own concepts/tech for space travel.
1) Not all travel has to go beyond the Kármán line. A lot of the experience can be had without the effort/cost/tech of leaving our atmosphere.
2) Travel to space will be much cheaper in the future. Just like the jet-age, there will be a "space age" where eventually the average family can afford traveling to a space hotel. This may take some time, but just look at the success SpaceX/Starlink had in the past and how many magnitudes of cost were lowered.
(I still believe that his space play is a far bigger bet than electric vehicles)
3) Some of these experiences may be virtual. I know that it is not the same thing, but until a short while ago we all went to offices IRL and now many will never go back. Times change very quickly.
If I had the money, it would be a no-brainer. It's space.
I don't care about going to space unless my future wife wanted to go, then I would go with her if it made her happy.
Did you know that no couple has ever married while both were in space? You and your future wife could be the first!
So romantic
Should be a no-brainer right? Yes if I had the money, as in it won't eat into a significant portion of my wealth.
No thanks. Not even for free- space travel is historically a high risk activity, and there isn't anything in LEO worth visiting, except perhaps the ISS.
Interesting travel offers around this topic

Michelin star meal at the edge of space. 132K $US.
I feel like only people from the UK say "132K $US" - is this true?
I am in the UK right now, so maybe it rubbed off on me. I am not British though.
My team is mostly British and they often write it that way.
