What do you wear to an Information Session?
Some companies are holding information sessions at my school, and I am uncertain as to what type of dress code is expected.

I usually go just wearing khaki pants and a polo but I've seen people turn up in everything without any one really caring. I've seen people turn up in jeans and a polo and shorts and t-shirt. I don't think it really matters but you should probably go dressed at least half decent.
Business casual is the way to go
Don't listen yo Yacht_man or buttercup87, they don't know what they are talking about. Here is what you wear

P.S.: don't wear a backpack, you'll look like a retard
P.P.S.: in all seriousness, I've attended both target and non-target schools' events. 90% of students were in business suits. I usually attend events in nice pants, dress shirt, and tie.
Where do I find the suit you linked above...?

Wear a suit. If I'm presenting and am wearing a suit, I want you to be as well. Keep it classy.
A lot of kids go wearing cheap suits. You gotta keep it classy and casual tho, dress like tony soprano
I recommend a suit, or, at the very least, business casual plus blazer. Most students will be wearing something similar to this, and those that don't look like they belong in class and not with business professionals (who are probably wearing suits, or business casual at the least, as well). If this were a networking session outside of school, then business casual would probably be fine (based on event descriptions and recommendations), but since it is an on campus event, I would definitely not hold back - go suit, or at least business casual plus blazer - better to be slightly overdressed than very underdressed.

I think that business casual is fine for on campus events. I can't speak from the side of a recruiter but I would appreciate a kid who looked presentable (read: clean shaven, shirt tucked in, decent shoes on) but I wouldn't expect a suit. You will be meeting with someone for a few minutes tops and I don't think they will be analyzing whether you are business casual or wearing a suit.
Do you always wear a suit to an information session? (Originally Posted: 08/29/2011)
I see some people wearing dress pants and just a dress shirt, or maybe sometimes a sweater too. But is a suit the preferred attire?
Between a suit and pants/shirt, either one is fine - my only other comment would be that if you notice that (pretty much) everybody else is wearing one or the other, it's probably best not to stand out fashion-wise so go with the flow.
Wear a suit.. no doubt
Wear a suit. At these things you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, so look the part.
To an information session? I wouldn't wear a suit, but I don't have a stick up my ass like a lot of finance people do. ;)
business casual is fine.
Tie at Information Session? (Originally Posted: 09/13/2009)
So, what's everybody's opinion about what to wear to an information session? I'm going white shirt, dress pants, dress shoes, but am undecided about tie / no tie. What do you all think? Thanks.
Most people will be in a full suit.
Suit.
I would agree with the previous posters - wearing a suit definitely covers your bases, and you know you won't be under dressed. If you don't want to wear a suit, I would go with a blazer over a tie. For networking events and information sessions, I always like to have on a blazer as the 3rd piece over the tie - this is, again, assuming you have opted to not wear a suit.

The presenters/recruiters will all be in business formal; you should be as well.
Haha, thanks guys, good thing I came here before going to the info session.
No worries.
What about a sweater, white shirt and a tie? With Dockers pants.
^Don't do it. Every presentation I've been to has been business formal. The guys who don't don the jacket or the tie stand out and look like idiots.
prop shop info sessions- what to wear? (Originally Posted: 11/09/2008)
info session this week for a top chicago prop shop. I know they are all big on wearing jeans to work and whatever so should I still wear business causal (dress shoes/pants/shirt)?
I just interviewed with a very casual prop firm in chicago, dress code similar to yours, I would suggest dress shirt/button down or nice dress khakis/button down & dress shoes. Do not wear a tie or suit, you want to look like a good fit for the firm.
Good luck, let us know how it goes.
make a new email address and ask the HR person if there is a dress code...

Dress code for Informational session (Originally Posted: 10/04/2016)

Suit. Possible to get by with a sports coat. Odds are the majority of men will be in suit and ties though.
Wearing a suit to HBS 2+ 2info session? (Originally Posted: 03/15/2010)
Ok so HBS is doing an info session for 2+2 in about 6 hours, and a friend of mine just asked me if he should wear a suit to it or just go business casual. I've found a thread on this for banking info sessions, but haven't found a definitive answer for business school info sessions. What should I tell him?
