Corp Dev Internship at a REIT?

Hey guys, I’m in my 3rd year at a Canadian target school, grades are mid and have 3 past internships working back/mid office roles in repe and non bank real estate lenders. I recently got an offer for one of the largest residential REITS in Canada for a Strategic Finance internship as a summer analyst (basically RE corp dev from what others have told me). I’m not sure if I would be fully pigeon holed or not have the opportunity to move into other high finance roles such as IB later on, so I’m debating doing an extra year at school to recruit for IB summer internships and hoping that the M&A experience I get at the REIT along with the general knowledge from my past experiences could carry over. Should I do the year or not? Should I instead aim for an offcycle? Or should I play it safe and fun for a return offer and head back there full time?
