Silver Point - London Office
Hey all,
Any thoughts on SP office in London? What’s their strategy? Is it classic opportunistic credit? Do they do equities?

No to public equities, just distressed & PC in London
They don’t do PC out of London, only public.
Not correct, they have a DL team in London, offices near piccadilly circus - focusing on specialist direct lending globally.
What's your source? Because mine is that I work there.
Was approached about a seat here last year. They hired some person who was in the US doing L/S equities to run the European franchise and shipped over one of their analysts from the US to help build out the team. From memory, the mandate is almost entirely public credit and they have some arrangement where they hand off certain trades/deals to the US teams. They’ve been quite publicly involved in some of the largest distressed situations in Europe this year so clearly have the willingness to deploy but early days given it’s still a relatively new team.
Can I pm you ?
From a bunch of HHs and colleagues in the space, including MDs - they have a horrible culture. Hours + treatment
Helpful to know thanks a lot
Have a hard time believing this considering there's what, 2 analysts in London?
I agree with this. Culture is quite bad across the entire firm and management is very cheap.
Could you disclose the HH that approached you + whether they were looking for buysiders only?
Their largest position is Thames Water (tbd whether that works out or sinks them and Elliott…)
Not surprising they’re building up the office across the pond
Largest across the total fund or just London?
1 billion face amt position in the class A for Elliott and SP is what I heard. Similar for APO as well.
Sinks Elliott in full in London?
All of it? No way, but they might get hit hard
what is comp for someone in their first year there?
