Best Response

I have never understoond people's perspective on under-dressing for interviews. Studies have shown that we as humans are programmed to judge situations within a span of 5-15 seconds (as was needed in "flight or fight" scenarios. With that being said you should absolutely dress the part, as you will immediately gain credibility with your interviewer. I wouldnt be excessively flash but I would ball out and wear my best suit, tie, shoes, etc. I would probably leave the cuff links at home and refrain from wearing anything but a navy suit, white shirt, and conservative tie.

junkbondswap, I definitely agree with what you are saying. The only thing is that I picked up a pair of shoes that are generally worn by associate+ bankers and are easily identifiable. Do you think they will be like "who the f does this kid think he is"?

No one cares what shoes you're wearing be it on an interview or day to day. As buysideguy said, if you wear a flashy tie or an odd colored suit, it will be noticed. Besides, few people can look at your shoes and be able to deduce how much you paid for them.
