The Bank of England (BoE) is the central bank of the United Kingdom. The main responsibilities of the BoE are:

- Regulation of the banking industry
- Protecting the rights and deposits of customers
- Implement monetary policy
- Finance the UK government
The head of the BoE as of October 2011 is Mervyn King.
