4 interviews at Goldman Sachs & no word since....
I'm a little frustrated. I've had 4 excellent interviews with Goldman Sachs for a compliance role. They went very well, and all 4 of the interviewers really liked me, as they mentioned it, communicated that I gave excellent answers, etc. I followed up with the interviewers immediately afterwards and thanked them for their time and how much I ejoyed meeting them and learning about the role/firm.
I also stayed in constant contact with the recruiters. After the initial interview, I was invited back twice, each like 3 days after the interview. Since the 4th one 10 days ago, I have reached out twice to hear about developments and nothing. There has been no response from the recruiter or from the associate I interviewed with. She liked me a lot, as the interview went very well (you know when an interview is going well).
So I'm puzzled. What could be the issue? I might be going crazy for nothing but I'm only judging the lack of contact from their previous rapid responses. I can appreciate a delay but even no contact or response from emails and a voicemail? Should I get in touch again?
Am I being crazy? Could they have started a background check without asking me first? Although I dont think there is anything of issue, who knows? I REALLY need this job and could do with someone talking me off a cliff right now!
Thanks
they cant start bg check unless u signed some shit. dont worry goldman is anal and you have to go through like 10 interviews for any spot there
They said to max it'd be like 5 interviews, so I expect this to be the last stage with the head of compliance.
Relax...you come off as desperate. Sounds like you've done all you can do. Just carry on and continue job hunting. If they contact you again, great. If not, fuck em.
If I'm honest, I am a little desperate. I got laid off like 6 months ago and really need a job. Several job fell through so this is important!
they tend to do that
I had 6 GS interviews and waited 2 months to get my rejection letter
Wow, really? NO communication in the interim? Sucks, sorry to hear it.
By 6 interviews do you mean you had to go on site 6 times on 6 different days? Or do you mean one trip and meeting 6 different sets of people? Or do you mean you had to go on site 2-3 times and met a couple of sets of folk each time thus totaling 6?
What base salary level and what role was this for? I have a couple of friends in the $120k base pay range and they did not have such experiences (meaning, they did not make 6 different trips on 6 different days).
Guys, do I just wait or be proactive in getting some info? I emailed yesterday and left a voicemail, and nothing.
Jesus man. If you keep it going, you are never going to get hired. Following up is good, but don't overkill it.
I guess. I'll probably check again next week or so. I'm a little anxious
Bump!
From my experience at GS, they will extend and offer to one or two individuals and reject most within a week. The remaining individuals are waitlisted/ put on hold.
Well, I havent heard back and its been two weeks now. From what I could tell, there werent that many applicants, and I certainly impressed. Its so frustrating.
Any other points from anyone? I still havent heard and I've just received an offer from another firm. Preference is Goldman so sorry if I sound like a douche.
Now that you've gotten another offer. Pick up the phone and either call the most senior person you interviewed with and/or the HR person.
I've contacted the HR person just now. He called me back after picking up my voicemail and let me know that they'll get back to me (without a firm date/time).
Probably not wise to contact the VP (Although I have a dialogue with him, he liked me and responded warmly to my thank you email after our initial interview) and go behind the HR person right? Would that be OK? I considered it initially.
Depends on the time sensitivity of the other offer. If its urgent, then risk it and do it. If you have time, give it a day or two and if HR fails to follow-up, go to the VP. Explain you have received another offer but are deeeply invested in the compliance role at Goldman as your number one preference.
The other offer made no mention of a timeframe for acceptance but even so, Goldman is definitely my preference.
Any feedback on timeframe to contact? I was thinking the end of the week
Did you ever head back from GS, if so - what was the outcome?
I recently applied to an EMEA analyst position (finance division), had 3 interviews, being informed of my success hours after each one, then after the 4th I got radio silence from HR.
I followed up with HR by e-mail and telephone, and am still having no luck - however my GS online portal is showing up as "Current status is Scheduled - Additional Interviews We look forward to seeing you on your selected interview date."
It has been almost 2 months now, so 90% of me has accepted it's going to be a rejection - but it would be interesting to hear what happened to you after the long wait...
I would strongly advise you put on a poker face and don't show any desperation. This is Goldman Sachs, you gotta pull a Don Draper to get in I say.
