Osama Bin Laden is Dead
Who is watching the news? Obama is about to deliver a statement in the White House briefing room. John King from CNN said that the announcement is about Osama Bin Ladin's death.
According to John King, the U.S has the body of Bin Ladin.
So what's next?
silver?
Nah! Ghadafi. They just killed his son and his grandchildren. They will hang him like they hang Sadam Hussein.
Did we kill him or someone else did/he died of "natural" causes?
he be dead son
BUT...BUT...OBAMA IS WEAK ON TERROR AND A SECRET MUSLIM!
I heard Obama killed him with his bare hands.
Honestly, I don't bother posting much anymore because of cunts like you, but fuck you if you think Obama had jack shit to do with this.
Chalk this up to George Bush and him going after Bin Ladin. Obama has made it his presidency to blame everything on Bush. Well guess what, this is Bush's fault also and he should get all the credit.
And with that I am done with this post.
Get over yourself. This wasn't the result of the actions of Bush or Obama. We should be lauding our special forces.
Obama succeeded where Bush failed...again and again and again and again.
I deep throat cock
I am just passing the news. I don't care about Obama. Don't shoot the messenger
Dude, shut the fuck up. While I'm with ANT on this that Bush deserves way more credit for this than Obama. I'm not going to get political with this. This isn't about politics, this is great day for ALL AMERICANS (and if you disagree you can go throw yourself off a bridge because you are a worthless piece of shit).
My one regret is that he was killed quickly with a bomb rather than having the slow painful death he deserved. If anyone saw the movie Law Abiding Citizen and how Gerald Butler killed the second guy who murdered his family then you know exactly what I would have done to him.....and then I would have fed him into a wood chipper feet first.
Why? Bin Laden had been hiding in that compound for 6 years.
Like I've said in the past...you're a fucking retard.
Agree with Ant, this kind of shit is why I don't even like posting here anymore.
Agreed as well. I've lost the desire to post here anymore because the forum has gone to shits. The only reason I've been sticking around is because I've sustained so many personal attacks recently and people have voiced their opinion for me to leave...well, I'm a stubborn asshole and will only leave on my own accord.

What happens to Obama's presidency now...
You beat me by maybe 30 secs on this thread. I deleted mine as a show of defeat.
On the real though, nice to have some sort of symbol of closure coming close to the 10 year of 9/11
Will you give me a sb for the 30 second win?
Killed by US air strike.
America.........FUCK YEAH!
Hopefully Trump doesn't want to see the death certificate.
We have his body. He was killed a week ago and we confirmed with DNA testing.
beat me on the thread as well...
he died from "US military Action"
[someone shot his ass]
I wonder if the person(s) that shot him could publicly come out about it (write a book etc) or if they did they'd be a target...
I gotta buy that fighter pilot a beer.
i knew this would trend here too
Was it really an airstrike?
Well, I guess the fact that there isn't a UN resolution on the table that authorises anything but a no-fly zone and protection of civilians whilst also calling for dialogue with Gadaffi might be of interest to some.
I would be interested to hear if it's confirmed that it was a US plane, because my country is a NATO member and there's speculation that it was one of ours.
Markets Rally. Dollar strengthens...gold/silver fall.
This guarantees Obama's reelection no doubt. Thank goodness.
+1 jjcannon.
Where is Eddie/Midas we need a LIVE NSFW coverage of this news.
US dollar rally coming big time tommorow!
Im away for a few days and Osama is dead, silver goes bat shit crazy, and half of alabama is destroyed .....damn Interesting that we had the body for a week. Seems his subordinates knew as well: http://www.ndtv.com/article/world/nuclear-hellstorm-if-bin-laden-is-cau…
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Lockheed Martin shares are gonna fly tomorrow. Lol on a real note thank God! brings a closure to many ppl.
live footage of how it happened:
USA USA USA, Fuck I'm drinking a cold beer to this
I'm with Gekko. The only thing that could make this better would have been if we'd caught him and executed him in Times Square.
Get a fucking life dude.Crude down -1.60...Dollar Rally....interestingggg..key reversal??
Yes, a slow painful death would have been amazing... but I'm just glad he can no longer breath. If ANYBODY needed a good killin', it was him.
Pakistan and nukes, i hope this works out for the best!
Haha good call.

wow i didnt know so many sheep roamed wso
law abiding citizen esque death would have been great
A trial followed by the rest of his life in solitary confinement would have sufficed.
Like I already said, while this is good news for all Americans and I'm glad the f***er is dead, this is a badly needed smoke-screen of an announcement for Obama's administration. Fundamentals haven't changed and you have more imminent issues at hand to deal with. I'm not going to party like it's 1999 just because he was "supposedly" killed this week. Who knows really how long he's been dead for.
This is going to be all over the MSM and it will be spun way out of proportion. Again, glad he's dead, but it's not changing anything. It's said he was killed in a mansion outside of Islamabad.
Islamabad? Are you fucking kidding me? If you've ever been there, you know what a small, sleepy, upscale and totally not like the rest of Pakistan kinda place it is. It's like the world's most wanted person was found in Aspen or the Hamptons. I mean, the Pakistanis had to have known this asshole was in their capitol city. This is crazy news. Pakistan has some explaining to do.
You think it's coincidence this was rolled out before NY opens up on Monday? While London and other markets are on a holiday? How about silver and gold flash-crashing just hours before this announcement?
OBAMA: AMERICANS shot Osama in a strategic FIREFIGHT on ground and obtained his body.
Good shit
I can't believe it was a firefight, imagine the men of that team wow.
God bless our troops.
No Americans were harmed :)
Good job special forces operators... good job.
Could you imagine being the guy or being the guy on that team that killed him? They must feel like ultimate badasses right now and rightfully so.

Where did you hear that it was SEALS?
Congratulations to all my fellow veterans and current enlisted. I would have gave my left nut to be the person to pull the trigger on that fucker.

This is a night all Americans can celebrate...God Bless USA!
"We'll find him in the end, I promise you. We'll find him, just as sure as the turnin' of the Earth"
Go America.
I wanted Osama captured alive, so the US could interrogate him.
you don't want to be known as the guy who killed him. You will have a big target on you and your family. That's why specail ops dudes don't walk around wearing shirts that say special ops - and i'm not talking about the lower tiers.
America's prestige back on the rise. We showed the world that we are willing to do anything to defend our people. After seeing what we are willing to do to bring people to justice who else is really going to try to mess with America? Big stick diplomacy-2. AMERICA > WORLD.
EVERYBODY IN NYC GO TO THE PATRIOT NOW
See, they said US assets and not troops... I'm guessing CIA cause they got some super badass black ops shit goin on. It doesn't seem like something the SEALS would do either unless they were very close to the area with little time.
All credit should be given to the Spec Ops. If You're a vet, you should be saying the same thing.
and I am.
RANDOM PREDICTION!
The song "America, Fuck Yeah" from the Team America soundtrack will be on the iTunes top 10 list by tomorrow morning!
Haha... I've just been watching the "likes" go up repeatedly on this video
haha, totally agree. Facebook and Twitter are like a fucking beehive right meow.
Deservedly so though!
Fuck Osama!
Close to meaningless "victory". It took nearly 10 years for the biggest army in the world to find and kill a single man. Surely there shouldn't be such a celebratory atmosphere.
A milestone, but for both the 'goodies' and the 'baddies'. The murderous Jihadists now have a martyr and an idol.
Fight must continue. Far from over.
I understand the whole "10 years" thing... but it IS possible to evade capture by other humans, no matter how highly trained they are. Especially if you're intelligent and have A LOT of power.
Can somebody show me the news headline that reads "TERRORISM IS OVER!"?... nobody is saying this, there is nothing wrong with being glad that such a piece of fucking scum is dead
Hmm, either you aren't an American, or you're a shitty one...either way we don't care for what you have to say.

Congrats guys, I may be against the wars, but that doesn't mean it's not a reason to celebrate. Thanks to the vets and current military folks.
Former presidents are weighing in on the killing of Osama bin Laden by American forces operating inside Pakistan.
Former President George W. Bush, whose entire presidency was defined by the September 11th attacks, said in a statement tonight that President Obama called him to inform him of the news of bin Laden’s death.
Bush called the operation a “momentous achievement” that “marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.”
“I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude,” the former president said in a statement. “The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.”
Pure Class.
He's always keeping it classy. True patriot and will be remembered for such, though it won't be by the current generation.
Regards
This wasn't done with an air strike. They specifically said that it was a firefight. I'm sure it was special forces, seals, or CIA. I did like how Obama had to mention about 5 times that he decided that the intel was credible enough to act and that he approved the raid on the compound. The credit for this should fall 100% to the military, not to any politician.
SEALs.
Nope. Two special forces teams.
I think we should also give props to Pakistan for helping us with this. They might huff and puff for the idiots in their country, but behind the scenes they helped us big time with this one.
And I really hate how people try and use the 10 years shit against us. As if finding one man who is always moving, uses no technology and is fiercely protected, all while operating in some of the most extreme terrain possible, should of been a piece of cake.
If you think any other nation could of done this in 30 years you would be joking. Only the USA could have done this in such a short time frame. Yes, 10 years is short. The world is pretty damn big and Osama isn't the only bad guy we have been after.
Naaa, CPH, Bush is a worthless loser. He just gave two nations a chance at Democracy, killed one horrible Dictator and his sons, and now finally Bin Ladin is dead.
Bush is going to go down in history as accomplishing nothing. Oh wait ...
Obama is still thinking of how he could of used "I" a little bit more in his speech.
Yeah, but President Bush was a horrible public speaker...so none of that counts!!
It's funny, I thought the same thing when I listened to his address. It's always "me, we & us" until something is criticized and then the finger starts to point. He never thanked Bush for his effort and the only time he mentioned his name was when he was pointing out that this isn't a fight against Islam.
+1 for Pakistan for all their help and all my old friends in the Intel community...and my buddy on ST6...I hope he got to pull the trigger.
Regards
1- Obama did mention Bush with a positive implication. I don't know what type of bitch-made man would complain that Bush didn't receive profuse gratitude.
2- Bush let Osama escape at Tora Bora by outsourcing combat their to Afghanis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tora_Bora
Don't forget about the 1 million Iraqis who died. Or the 2.5 million Iraqis who are internal refugees or the 2.2 millions who had to flee Iraq because fear of reprisals.
Does your 1MM dead figure include all the ones who died because of Iraqi suicide bombings and other murderous attacks? Considering the USA as well as the rest of the civilized world has stringent rules of engagement, I really doubt 1MM Iraqis have been killed from US military mass slaughter.
Fear of reprisals? From US military soldiers? Or Iraqi terrorists?
Or are you lumping all the Kurds that Saddam gassed into these figures? Or maybe the mass graves of innocent people that were killed during Saddam.
Because we all know there was peace and tranquility before the Americans got there.
How many people died during the revolutionary war for Democracy and freedom? Last time I checked being free and democratic wasn't a bloodless ordeal.
It was a JSOC Operation. Also, congrats to 10 years of hard work by everyone, including Bush.
Buddy sent me this link....interesante... http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/world/2011-05/02/c_13854451.htm
(Abbotabad is where they killed him)
Go America ! The devil is dead.
Is it wrong to have mixed feelings on this? I am very glad he is dead, but watching CNN, I can't help but feel the chanting and the crowding is lowly/savage-like...
You guys finally caught and killed the bastard, just before the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. So if people are cheering because they feel justice is served, because they've gotten closure from the death of loved ones as a result of terrorism (either as a victim, or being killed in action), or even if it's just people wanting to celebrate for celebration's sake... it's expected. It is a pretty historical event. So long as this doesn't result in looting and random violence...
http://www.picrandom.com/images/tumblrlkjs.gif
Wait, hold on a second. I thought we went into Iraq over WMDs? Oh, wait, what? We went in for "Iraqi freedom?" I'm not sure why people in here seem so pumped over the idea that 4,000 of our own troops died for a neocon nation building exercise.
And if you are ok with that, then shouldn't you be pressing us to go all out in places like Sudan?
Let the U.S. bask in the moment of its victory.
Wait, I thought we went in for oil?!?
Regards
I assume this is your attempt at sarcasm and that you think I believe that. If so, you are incorrect. I just find it funny that so many people in here are cheerleading a nation building project. One which started as a war to find Sadaam's WMDs and had ever-shifting goal posts. It's especially funny to see the so-called libertarians of this forum defend this crap.
Let's all just be happy that we finally got the legitimate head bad guy of 9/11.
Who cares? bin laden was just a scapegoat for american greed.
Greed. Is. Good.
And don't you ever forget that.

While the war in Iraq was worthless and one of the greatest stains on American history, the war in Afghanistan was at a time a justified endeavor that now has tangible positive outcomes.
Congratulations and huge commendation are in line for President Obama, the CIA, and any other intelligence agencies involved. Catching a guy who is that rich, well-connected, well hidden in a shithole country with a bazillion followers masking him all the time is quite a difficult feat.
Quick question... Do people who debate on wso do so in hopes to change the mind of the other party or to educate the other party or they are just bored because...reading this neither side will EVER see it differently than they do now, and because of that its a fundamental belief that will never change. So essentially its like arguing with a wall...
Otherwise happy debating/arguing..
Debating makes us a better citizen. I find it quite enlightening to see both perspectives.
No I don't believe I will change anybody's view, but when I stand before God, I want to be able to say that I tried.

Bread and circuses.
While I do not want defend anyone and I believe that he deserved the punishment, I thought that we live in a developed and civilized world where we take people, who we think committed crime, to courts and judge their actions in that kind of setting. That is what we made Europeans do in Nuremberg in 1946, what the Israelis did with Eichmann. I am sorry but I think that he should have been tried for mass murder in a civilized court with evidence and found guilty that way. This way, we are just simply retaliating his actions and that never leads to good things. just my thoughts
I wanted Osama Bin Laden captured alive to hear what his story was. I wonder if he wrote a book while he was in hiding.
You mean these Israelis?
Your general lack of understanding about the way the world works is laughably retarded.

Yes, because he put his gun down and surrendered.

osama's dead...but al qaeda's not. nor is instability in the middle east. nor an unstable pakistan and a messy afghanistan. don't even get me started on iraq.
osama was just another two-bit extremist billionaire propped up by saudi wahaabi ideology...oh and we're they're #1 oil importer.
the death of osama will change ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about (failed) U.S. foreign policy in the middle east. the national security state and permanent war economy have become their own monsters.
cynical judgments aside, finally justice for all the americans who perished on 9/11, and props to the men and women in the military, combat forces and intel officers alike.
i feel bad for those of you who are so tunnel visioned that you're able to turn this into yet another dem. vs rep, obama vs bush shouting match.
Omg that 'he's dead' gif is hilarious
"osama was just another two-bit extremist billionaire propped up by saudi wahaabi ideology...oh and we're they're #1 oil importer." - jj1188
sorry, but can you get any dumber?
1) Osama Bin Laden is one of the many, many heirs (approximately 88) to Mohammad Awad Bin Laden's fortune, the Bin Laden Group and many other assets around the world. He IS NOT a billionaire. Rich, yes. But not a billionaire.
2) "Propped up by saudi wahaabi ideology"...uh,NO. The U.S. (which was too pussy to fight the soviet union directly, under the excuse of not wanting to risk nuclear war) set up a scheme with Saudi Arabia where they would recruit volunteers who would go and fight against the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan. Malaysia, Indonesia, the UAE, and Singapore also had similar "programs". In fact, US NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR Zbigniew Brzezinski actually flew to Pakistan where on the Afghan border near the Khyber pass, he motivated the local muhajhideen: “We know of their deep belief in God, and we are confident their struggle will succeed. That land over there is yours, you’ll go back to it one day because your fight will prevail, and you’ll have your homes and your mosques back again. Because your cause is right and God is on your side.”.
The United States of America directly funded, trained, and armed the mujahideen,Al-QAEDA, and other groups to fight the soviets. I and my 25 million fellow citizens would really appreciate it if you stopped dumping your shitty mistakes on us. Thanks.
. The OBL plan backfired when the US built bases in Saudi Arabia, causing Osama to light up in rage and promise "hell" (King Fahd proffered the US lead the defence of Saudi borders instead of Osama Bin Laden and his large group, understandably).
3) You are so ignorant. China is our #1 importer, and that's according to your very own Energy Secretary, Steven Chu. Stop thinking of yourself as the best in the world...that was over with a long time ago.
Blastoise's gif is ridiculously hilarious lol. Had me laughing for hours man.

It sounds quite weird. I dont wanna be skeptical but why would the US kind of bury the corpse just after killing him? There's no photos of him dead, no autopsy nothing to really give credit to this attack. What if Bin Laden just died from his kidney failure something like three years ago and today was the most appropriate day, for X reasons, to reveal such information?
DNA testing is underway with the remains of Osama's sister who died in Boston. The pics circulating the web currently are fake, but I read that a Gov. spokesman said that there are actually real pics and they are not sure if they are going to release them.
What is this? I don't even...
I guess it's part of his religion to bury the body within 24 hours... and I'm sure they did do at least a minor autopsy, they at least did DNA testing. I'm sure it's not going to take an insanely smart dr. to tell us that Osama probably died because of that huge bullet in his head.
What was the US supposed to do with the corpse instead of dumping it in the sea? Parade it through downtown NYC? Bury it with military honours? Keep it in cryogenic storage so we could pull it for skeptical journalists?
FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!
http://www.youtube.com/embed/OQ0qsx-ZG8c
This is a great example of the kind of work the CIA 2.0 (the one with teeth) can do. Seems like a lot of people are confused about our President's strategy in the war on terror. Starting in 2009 the gloves came off, the CIA which had already shifted to a more direct action shop was given a ton more DoD assets and a mandate (fueled by an additional one billion dollar annual payment to Pakistan) to increase the drone operational temp and put operators on the ground in Pakistan. While I agree that this strategic shift was formulated over a period of years, Obama deserves a lot of credit for saying "yes," because Bush didn't do that. 2003-2008 there was a ton more focus on stabilizing Iraq. As someone who has served as an infantry officer in both theaters during those years I can say that matches my experience in how resources were allocated. I can also remember some truly miserable times in Khost freezing my balls off looking in every rocky crevice for this asshole. You can't begin to understand how angry it makes me that he was living in some Pakistani version of a McMansion surrounded by 3 regiments of the Pakistani army and the Pakistani West Point (yes, I resent the comparison). The Pakistani's of course had been saying for years that he was either not in Pakistan or dead.
So in conclusion:
1) Bush didn't make killing bin Laden a top priority 2) Obama made killing bin Laden a top priority 3) The Pakistani's are slimy pieces of shit that lied to us and likely harbored this guy for years 4) chpbravo, shouldn't you change you avatar to some booger eating pencil pusher? While I liked getting my (mostly shitty and wrong) intel briefings as much as the next grunt and thank you for your service, but you should probably give the "I fought for your freedom and made sacrifices!" diatribe a rest given that you probably can count the number of times you were outside the wire on one hand.
Thank you for turning over all those rocks and please tell describe to me what everything looked like. I have never even seen the sunlight in Iraq because I just huddled inside my TOC and never went outside the wire. Thanks for revealing my deepest, darkest secret everyone on WSO, now I won't even get half the respect I did before...which wasn't much to begin with.
And yes, you are much better than me...and the rest of the Army as well. We should actually think about getting rid of any and all support units since they don't contribute anything, we can just have a bunch of grunts...then we would be much better off.
As far as my shitty Intel briefs, unless you worked at CENTCOM or INSCOM or were part of CFLCC, CJTF7 or the 82nd Airbone, you haven't seen shit from me.
Alas, I am just an Army pog, I've done nothing, have seen nothing and contributed nothing.

Bush on Bin Laden:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/J9MTB2_8bmw
But, yeah, let's gloss over the Obama administration's shift in strategy which actually got the guy.
I find it hysterical that people are praising Bush for freeing the Iraqi people when we didn't even go into Iraq under those pretenses. We went in because of WMDs. When there were none, we moved the goalposts to fulfilling a neocon dream of nation building in the middle east. By doing so, we stretched our military thin and diverted resources away from the War on Terror and capturing / killing Osama Bin Laden to repairing a country that was destroyed by our own doing. I'm not saying that the Iraqi people being free is a bad thing, but I am saying that I believe that strategic, targeted uses of military force for the war on terror are a helluva lot better than sending 4,000 US troops to die for Iraqi freedom and claiming that you don't care or think about the leader of the terrorist organization that was responsible for the attacks on 9/11.
My thoughts:
1) Foremost, huge props to our military and special forces. It wasn't an invasion force that got this done, it was a handful of elite American soldiers who did it in a matter of minutes with no casualties. And props to the hundreds more of intelligence officers that supported them. This is on par with the greatest special forces missions ever conducted. This is why they should fear us, not because we have a thinly-spread, under-manned land force stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
2) This is definitely a victory for Obama, not Bush. I am not an Obama fan and if this contributes to his re-election, so be it. We'll debate that all later. For now, as Commander-in-Chief, he made sure that adequate resources were still being dedicated to finding and killing that son of a bitch - when I'm sure that some of his advisers were probably telling him that, after 10 years, this would be more symbolic than anything and that resources would better be spent elsewhere.
3) BURIAL AT SEA??? WHAT THE FUCK?? I want to see a picture of the bastard's dead body. This man who planned the "greatest" terrorist attack in history and evaded one of the best intelligence services in the world for nearly 10 years - I want to see a picture of the guy's bloodied and battered body, so that everyone can see just how human he is and that we fukin killed him. If they don't release pictures, that's a huge tactical mistake in my mind - Americans deserve to see for themselves.
There are pictures, they just haven't decided if it will be useful to release them or not. On the one hand, it would obviously please all of us. On the other hand, they could be used to inflame muslim passions, particularly if his body was violated (ie Pablo Escobar, who had his mustache trimmed to a Hitler look in a Hitler look). I'd love to print out a picture of Osama's corpse so I can piss on it, but not if that means US soldiers are going to die
And risk creating a thousand more bin ladens brilliant idea mate
Dumping his body was the best solution. If the body had been brought to the U.S. the location would have undoubtedly become a shrine for terrorists.
24 SEALs from SEAL Team Six = incredible.
Explain how a grave in the United States would become a shrine for terrorists from the Middle East...
Unless half his face was blown off by the bullets (which is actually a real possibility), they should release the pictures. The celebration and closure that this would bring to millions is worth the incremental retaliatory risk - and I say incremental because I don't see how releasing the pictures by themselves would prompt more retaliation than just the news of his death. I think Navy SEALS were disciplined enough to not dismember the body after the mission they had just carried out.
I would not have wanted his body brought on US soil much less buried here ^^^. I'm sure pictures will be released at some point. Someone videotaped the execution of Saddam so I would imagine that snapping a picture of Osama would not have been too difficult.
I doubt that the SEALs did anything to the body. After all the gun fire ceased they probably stood around his body and were just like "Holy shit, we just killed Osama Bin Laden"
WOOOW, whatever guy on the SEAL team that hauled Bin Laden's sorry carcass back to the helicopter the mother of all trophies.
Thank God he's dead.
Now, maybe we can get back to the business of building a better world.
.

Assume it's a translation error or typical lack of understanding between the Chinese and English functions of the website. All the major media in China are reporting it as it's been reported here (i.e. US SEALS got him in a firefight).
Seriously, the most wanted criminal on earth was killed at quite an opportune time for Obama, and they won't release one picture to prove it? Call me a conspiracy theorist, but that's BS. And I don't buy any explanation that it might anger terrorist. Cause it's not like we're already doing that by invading every country in the middle east. Gimme a freakin break.
I don't get what's so special about those SEALs its not like it was a tough job compared what the whole army does in afganistan.
If you're looking for a hero, how bout the US and the entire population that had to sacrifice so much for this mission of 10 years, regardless of every individuals political affiliation. The US paid one of the highes prices ever to get him and futile or not, americans can congratulate themselves if not on success than on endurance. Not giving up made the US what it is.
I mean, I'm not a particularly humble person, but I think this is ridiculous. What exactly have I had to sacrifice over the last ten years? Did getting my nuts felt up at airports help catch Osama? Did the cost of the CIA represent a massive part of my pay?
There are people who sacrificed in order that Osama could be killed. I'm not one of them, and I'm not willing to pretend that I am.
